About Me

As an art teacher, I have found it difficult to integrate my life as a teacher with my life as an artist. As a result, my artist self had been set aside, waiting for the opportunity to make a re-entry. I see many parallels between the process of art making, the path of life, and my journey of faith. Risk and a decision to take the first step are necessary for any of these journeys. Life, art, and faith are, by nature, the products of success and failure and lessons learned along the way. In my art I see an interesting merging of many of my life passions. I have long loved art, music, dancing, architecture, and travel and I can see the influence of all of these as this collection functions as a whole. Much of this work is the result of the study abroad opportunity that brought me to Italy for six weeks last summer. I studied printmaking in Venice, learning many new techniques that weaved their way into my visual vocabulary. I have learned that I am not complete when I deny my urge to create, so this work signals an awakening in my life. I eagerly anticipate the new work that will result from these explorations.Crystal AmmermannLayout made by hixfive at CreateBlog.com .
