Sonic irresponsibility since 2005

About Me

Legend has it that Craptacular Recordings began in May 2005. The Coathanger Babies were ready to release one of the greatest albums ever recorded by man: Tu Eres La Broma. For this single purpose, craptacular recordings was created. An unforgettable recording session brought about the Coathanger Babies debut album. After Tu Eres La Broma, craptacular recordings went on to Waco, where work was completed on the 7th and James Sessions, truely one of the most unexpected and eclectic music collections ever caught on tape... or at least hardisk. This album was released in early 2006. With two EPs finished, craptacular recordings and blue duck records have moved on to live sound recording. In late August, craptacular recordings sponsored the "Baby Tour" which brought magic and mayhem through San Antonio, San Marcos, and Austin. Amazing performances by the Coathanger Babies, Fresh Fudge, and God's Joke have all been captured for the benefit of posterity. More recently, Craptacular Recordings has returned to Waco, recording two performances by the Deadhands. We are now looking to expand. We want to be the first choice for live recording for new and upcoming bands in and around Dallas and Waco. Our idea is simple: albums for the most part are a thing of the past. No longer do kids flock to local record stores to buy the new LP hot off the press. No, in this highly digitized and interconnected world, bands have a new tool to attract and entertain fans: myspace. Rather than spending hundreds or thousands of dollars on conventional track recording at a studio, why not record the bands newest live set at a local venue and put the set up online? Every few weeks or months new recordings can be made, keeping the band..s fan base right at the cutting edge of new music. We offer extremely mobile and flexible recording for today's music environment and want to be there to record the new wave of musicians ready to make their mark! Anyone with any questions or comments about any of the music heard on this site, please feel free to drop us a line! Thank you and be sure to come back often! -mtj Myspace Backgrounds
