SOME HOW THE RAP GAME REMINDS OF THE CRACK GAME

About Me

Emerging in 2000 as one of hip-hop’s most promising underground talents, the American Italian-born Joe Larocca can be defined by one word: passion.
On the mic, Larroca aka (La Roc) exhibits a fluid style inspired by some of the many artists to call Flushing, Queens home: Mic Geronimo, Royal Flush & Cash Money Click, to name a few. But it’s really Larroca’s approach and conscientious embodiment of what hip-hop music should feel like that has helped position him for success in 2008. Able to touch on any topic with equal intensity and artistry, Larroca’s hard-hitting, thought-provoking lyrics recall an era when artists like Nas, Big Pun, Rakim, KRS-One, Mos Def and Busta Rhymes dominated the airwaves.
Truth be told, that’s exactly what the Queens-bred emcee would like to see happen. And he’s ready to be a part of that revolution.
Joe first garnered attention for his emceeing skills at John Bowne H.S., impressing his peers in ciphers and lunchroom battles. But as his reputation grew, so did his ambition to be the best at his craft. Larroca's drive and motivation allowed him to succced and move forth with his plans, and in doing so dropped an album for the streets in 2007 and guest appeared of various mixtapes. That time in the studio prepared Joe Larroca for the next step in his career.
Now signed to Live B.I.G. Music Group (an upstart indie label owned by Boot Camp Clik alumni Twanie Ranks aka Twan), Larroca is poised to seize the opportunity that he’s been afforded. He will be featured on the Live B.I.G./Be Loud Records NY-to-Jamaica project “Bomb Squad Live,” set to include tracks from legendary reggae artists Beenie Man, Capelton, and fellow Live B.I.G. artists Twanie Ranks, reggae icon Cutty Ranks, T-Blue and London emcee Young Bezzel (aka Champagne).
In the near future, Larroca plans on releasing his own solo project, as well, delving into the harsh realities of the life he experienced growing up in New York. Touching on politics, relationships and hip-hop in his rhymes, Larroca follows in the footsteps of the pioneers that came before him. Larroca intends on leaving his mark on the art that has meant so much to him and a million others.
