About Me

Music Video: Highway
Bio:
Born in Italy, Silvia Costeloe moved to the UK aged 17 and only ever played guitar in her room. Years later, she started busking, gathering courage from being in Sydney, on the other side of the world. She has been playing since, on her own, with a band as "Silvia & the Amazing Musicians" and has now the perfect jam man - a looping pedal - for companion. Her first ever gig was at BBs, in Bondi beach. Her second gig was the Hen and Chickens in Highbury and Islington and she has since played, among others, The Waterrats, The Betsy Trotwood, The White Horse, The Circolino di Bosto (Italy) and The 12 Bar off Denmark Street.Friends Francesco Brezzi of Ghostrecords and Tim Crompton of The High Wire have recorded her songs, some of which can be found on www.silviacosteloe.com. She has just recorded a new demo with Oyster Shell, Promised Numbers and Words at La Sauna in her home town, Varese, in the foothills of the alps. You can hear these here. The themes of her songs still touch on love, loss and the sea, as well as journeys, the desire for words, the yearning to fill an empty page.

Influences: The doors, bob dylan, bob marley, guns and roses, pearl jam, nirvana were what I grew up with but I doubt I sound anything like them.
Sounds Like: Any suggestions will be added..... Tim from Highwire: 'nico covering syd barrett'. VJ Amukidi an amazing voice, kind of like describing a wine - hints of Sandy Denny, Dory Previn, Nico, even a tiny essence of Kirsty McColl', Jo Theakston: 'folk without the rustic playfulness'
