CARNABY
He hails from the dance-metropolis of London and is possibly the most experienced DJ of his age in the nation. Carnaby is just 23 years old and has already accumulated 8 years of experience spinning in nightclubs in London and across the US. His blend of tech and electro beats leaves the dance floors packed and the people awestruck with his mixing ability, while his hot European look leaves the guys and girls hungry for more.
Carnaby grew up amidst the huge dance scene that is London and fell in love in with house music in 1996.
“I remember getting a Ministry of Sound mix-tape for my 13th birthday and listening to it until it wore out - that was the turning point for me,†explains Carnaby. “Shortly after I bought a set of turntables and a few records for about $50 and practiced until they wore out!â€
3 years later Carnaby had become so good that the rules were bent and he was asked to reside at Buzz in London, despite being only 16 years old.
“I was the envy of everyone at school. I can remember coming in on a Monday morning and bragging to all my friends about being in a bar and getting paid for it!â€
His style incorporates many different types of music ranging from funky beats to sexy vocals and buzzing basslines, all designed to get people moving and having fun. It is clear to anyone that has experienced Carnaby as a DJ and a person that is destined to be a star.
The next 4 years saw him move between residencies at Yates’ of London, The Red Room, Charlie Browns, and Space – all progressively larger venues – until he was asked to become a resident at London’s 1900 capacity super-club, Mission.
“I loved working at Mission,†says Carnaby, “The place would be packed week-in-week-out and what DJ wouldn’t like that?†Carnaby kept this residency for about a year before deciding it was time to crack America.
“I wanted to move on to bigger and better things, which sounds wild coming from a 22 year old, but here I am!â€
Since arriving in the U.S scene in 2006, Carnaby has enjoyed an overwhelming response from clubs and club-goers alike. He has added many more residencies to his ever-growing resume to create a very impressive list for this 23 year old prodigé.
The next step for Carnaby is to delve into the world of production with his premieré single for vocal-legend Ernest Kohl. Carnaby, and future production star Kenneth Keith, put together a remix of "Say Adieu" which goes on general release in Spring 2008 and is sure to mark the start of something big in the career of both Carnaby and Kenneth Keith
Carnaby is here and ready to take America by storm. Clubs have never done anything but beg him to return, and that has no sign of stopping for this future DJ-star
