DANCING ON ICE – THE TOUR 2008
Ice beauty Suzanne Shaw, pop heart throb Gareth Gates and reigning ice champion Kyran Bracken to join Torvill & Dean for Second UK Tour
Glamorous ice beauty Suzanne Shaw and pop heart throb Gareth Gates today announce they will both join skating legends Torvill and Dean when they take Dancing On Ice on Tour this April. Other celebrities to announce their involvement in the 2008 Tour today are reigning Dancing on Ice champion, Kyran Bracken and actress Clare Buckfield who narrowly missed out on being crowned ice queen last year.
Bonnie Langford will also join the celebrity entourage following her huge success on the 2007 ice tour last year when she was regularly voted winner by arena audiences up and down the country. Footballing legend David Seaman who starred in the first series of the hit ITV 1 show was the first name to announce his involvement in the live ice dancing show earlier this year.
Andi Peters will return as compere of the live show; this time round he will present to live audiences without the help of crutches having steered clear of the ice since his ankle break last year which he sustained during practise. He went on to present the show regardless of his injury.
All of the celebrities will be trained and choreographed by mentors Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean (who will perform several of their favourite routines at each show) all over the UK. The six-week tour, which kicks off in Sheffield on 4 April, runs until mid May and will travel to Arenas in Nottingham, Birmingham, London, Newcastle and Manchester. The Tour travels to Liverpool for the first time this year.
The judging panel will be rink-side at each show to critique the celebrity routines. Olympic gold medal winner Robin Cousins will head the panel of ice judges, which includes Karen Barber, Nicky Slater and Jason Gardiner.
In addition, the Arena audiences will have a chance to vote. Replicating the format of the TV show, they will be able to use their mobile phones to text in their favourite celebrity dancing couple. The audience votes will then be added to the scores from the panel of ice judges to decide the winner. Once the votes have been counted, the winning celebrity will join their skating partner to perform a magical finale. As per last year, all profits from text voting will go to charity.
More celebrity names will be announced in the coming weeks.

EXCITING GARETH ANNOUNCEMENT – DANCING ON ICE!
Finally we can confirm that Gareth is to take part in this year’s Dancing On Ice starting Sunday 13th January at 5.50pm on ITV!
Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean return ready to put a brand new team of well known names through their paces to prepare them for the ultimate live ice dancing championship.
As well as Gareth, this year the twelve contestants are: Javelin champion Steve Backley, Hollyoaks actor Chris Fountain, TV presenter Sarah Greene, Emmerdale actress Linda Lusardi, TV presenter and cleaning guru Aggie Mackenzie, singer and actress Samantha Mumba, TV and radio presenter Natalie Pinkham, tennis star Greg Rusedski, singer and TV personality Suzanne Shaw, GMTV reporter Michael Underwood, and TV presenter Tim Vincent.
With expectation higher than ever, and performances set to be even more spectacular, the twelve novice skaters have their work cut out to make the grade. Paired with a champion skating partner, and coached by the superstar duo, they will take to the rink, hoping to impress with their glittering costumes, daring moves and slick routines.
Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby preside and each week the resident panel of expert judges will scrutinise every dance, hoping to be increasingly dazzled by the thrill, speed and grace of the live ice performance.
11 million viewers tuned in to see ex-England rugby ace Kyran Bracken crowned Dancing On Ice champion 2007 after a nail-biting contest which saw him fight it out against Clare Buckfield and Duncan James, as each performed their own version of Torvill and Dean’s legendary Bolero.
