Life Is But a Twinking of An Eye . . . Stay Gold

About Me

For those who don't know me and managed to stumble across this page, my name is Akili (pronounced Uh-kee-lee). It's impossible to let you into my world by way of this blurb, but I'll simplify it by saying I am an Officer and a Gentleman, a young professional who splits my time between a few different careers. I strive to be a good person, son, brother and friend. Family is everything to me. I am incredibly close to my mother and from her I learned to be tender, devoted and to love unconditionally. I am also close to my father, from whom I inherited my strength, courage and unyielding, unflinching drive to succeed.
I've been in Los Angeles a few years and in that time I've been fortunate enough to dibble and dabble in a few of things I love to do. From touring the country as the lead singer of Switch (my favorite group as a child) to sweating through the daily grind of my 9 to 5 as a Criminal Prosecutor for the City of Los Angeles to learning the ropes in Hollywood while working on my television show ("The Akili Nickson Project" executive produced by Jamie Foxx), I've learned that my father's golden rule still applies: In life, you get out what you put in.
This year, my goal is to slow down and enjoy the ride. I feel like I've been through so many of life's journeys and through them all, I've managed to find my way to the sunshine. So as I experience love and love lost, joy and sorrow, highs and lows, the only goal I set for myself now is to slow down, celebrate life and to never, ever forget that the kid from the Projects did o.k. I can breathe now and I'm grateful. Take care and God Bless, Akili.

My Interests

Life and all that is has to offer. But most of all: family, family family. There are only two categories of people in my life: (1) family; and (2) everybody else.

Deanna, Patty and I

Kiera, another one who's been around almost 20 years.

Steve, my boy for as far back as I can remember, which is around 5.

Natasha and Kiera. They became friends and then found out I've known them both forever. Very cool.

I'd like to meet:

Generally, the friends I have are the friends I've had for most of my life. As you look on my page you are surrounded from all sides (slide shows, friends list etc.) with people that I have known for 10, 15, 20 years and longer. They've stopped being friends and started being family a long, long time ago. As a result, I'm happy and not in the business of searching for or making new friends. However, in the rare (and I mean very rare) event that we have crossed paths for some larger purpose in God's plan, I don't mind meeting good people with good hearts and strong minds. But most of all I would love to run into friends that I've lost contact with between high school, college and law school. In that time, I've lost touch with many people who were special to me. I'd like to find them.

Music:

Basically I love all types of music, depending on my mood. Some of my favorites are: Marvin Gaye, Switch, DeBarge, New Edition, The O'Jays, The Temptations, Donny Hathaway, Little Brother, Foreign Exchange, Eva Cassidy, T.I., 2Pac, Duran Duran, anything coming out of SolReal Entertainment or BOLO Entertainment, the Stylistics, Prince etc. You get the picture. For now, I'm a show a little respect to the Legends who put me in the game . . . . much love guys.
