Voodoo Mafia was formed October 2006 in Windsor, Ontario, Canada.
This original powerhouse trio has come to bring back good, heavy grooves.
Brian Markham and Derrick Gibson worked together in a Tool & Mold factory becoming friends after learning of each others similar musical tastes and goals. They played for a few months developing their original musical style.
After a couple of different line ups they recruited Blake Stiller who had played with Derrick before, to take over the Bass Guitar position to fill in the heavy, low end of the rhythm section.
They practiced two to three times weekly to write, arrange and further hone their talents as a solid unit. A few months later they had enough material to display their talents live for the hungry ears of their listeners.
Immediately upon playing live they were approach by Bar Owners requesting that they play regularly at their respective establishments.
They continued to play live regularly at various local venues, always bringing new material to each show to keep the people coming back and the die-hard fans wanting more.
March 3, 2007 they took first place in a local battle of the bands winning studio time with IndeBasement Studios and the chance to backup 80’s rock heavyweights Helix.
They are currently writing/arranging new material for their next CD and playing live regularly to pay for studio time and expenses.
