ALL EYES ON HER
March 2008, Red Dress Ink, 336 pages
Available at www.poonam.info

As a junior associate at the most sought-after marital-mediation and divorce-law firm in Beverly Hills, Monica is part mediator, part lawyer, part marriage therapist and all celebrity babysitter. She is doing her best handling the firm’s superstar clients Cameron and Lydia Johnson – Hollywood It couple “Camydia” – but things might be easier if her jealous coworker stopped giving her the evil eye. Or if her previously devoted fiancee started returning her calls. Or if she could deny the sneaking suspicion that her drama queen mother was planning an unwelcome move back to California.
Amidst the paparazzi frenzy surrounding Camydia’s roller-coaster relationship, an unfortunate episode at the SkyBar which Monica would most certainly deny under oath, and a reality-tv debacle that drops a surprisingly handsome new twist into her lap, Monica has got to don her Prada cape and matching bag and learn to think fast.
Is honesty really the best policy? Is true love ever really over? Is it better to meet the evil eye head-on, or to run just as fast and as far as your best gold heels will take you? Everyone’s watching to see what Monica will do. And she just might surprise them all – including herself!

GIRL MOST LIKELY TO
March 2007, Red Dress Ink, 320 pages
Available at WWW.POONAM.INFO

Meet New York City investment banker Vina Chopra. She's got predatory wit (categorizing most men as either cowboys or firemen, because even if they're not, they should be...), a healthy Yiddish accent (because she did grow up in Great Neck, Long Island, after all...), and a very deliberate conviction that 'acting as if you planned to weigh exactly as much as you do' wins out over "sunken cheekbones' every time!
With exactly thirty months left until she turns thirty, Vina has decided that it's time to get serious about finding her mate. So what if most of the 'suitable matches' her parents suggest turn out to be about as exciting as her humidifier? So what if her long term relationship was with the ulcer she decided to name Fred? So what if the ex-boyfriend who she's still in love with won't stop calling?
Vina isn't about excuses; she's about results. And what Vina wants, Vina normally gets...But Vina is also about to find out that real life rarely follows the script. It turns out that her friends know her a little too well, her parents' good intentions are complicated by the fact that they are completely out of touch with her life, and her neighbor's presumptuous cat has recently made a habit of sneaking into her closet and trying on all of her favorite shoes.
Amid a parental setup with a lawyer who turns out to be anything but 'suitable,' a blackout in the middle of a hot afternoon in New York City, and an office scandal that could permanently end her career, Vina begins to question everything that she's worked so hard for. Who has she been trying to please all of these years? Is the life she was most likely to lead the one that she actually wanted? Can she put aside everyone else's expectations for long enough to become the girl most likely to find happiness all her own?

CHASING SUCCESS
2004, American Book Business Press
Available at WWW.POONAM.INFO

Countless people awaken each day wondering not only "What should I do with my life?" but also "What will make me happy?" In the search for a purpose-driven life, the general public is looking for inspiration.
Chasing Success is the result of a two-year investigation into the lives of thirteen well-known (but seldom profiled) Harvard alumni who have lived extraordinary and entrepreneurial lives--who have engineered their own success. With their own words, and through the insights of their spouses, partners, parents, colleagues, investors, siblings, mentors and friends, Sharma has chronicled their lives. Narratives interspersed with direct quotes from her extensive personal interviews reveal The Five Habits of Highly Successful Entrepreneurs, and lead towards the concept of the Productive Versus Destructive Psychological Safety net.
Entrepreneurs interviewed include: Egon Zehnder, Scott Cook, Jim Koch, Jon Ledecky, Dan Bricklin, Amar Goel, Andrea Silbert, Esther Dyson, Matthew Heyman and more.

I grew up in New York (Long Island, to be specific), before going to boarding school in New Hampshire and college in Boston. I've lived and worked in New York and LA, and just recently finished up my MBA at Wharton.
Say hello at my website, WWW.POONAM.INFO , or add me as a friend, and I'll keep you updated.
When I'm not writing, I'm doing my best to pursue the kind of success that has as much to do with the tone I want to set for my life, as it does with the title I want to print on my business card.
Thanks for visiting!
