Born and raised in Barcelona since 1980, Toni Milian has always been surrounded with images throughout his live due to family influence. He always had a photographic camera handy and plenty of rolls to shoot. Trips and curiosities were his first objectives, but once the musical groups High-Voltage and Neblina Sound were born he then began making articles about Free Parties, achieving a unique "making of" about those events.In 2001 he moved to Brussels for an entire year where he portayed in images his life and experiences there. With a compact 35mm Olympus he took daily portraits of friends, people he was acquainted with, as well as portraits of odd situations that can happen on a foreign country.As an electronic music lover, it was there where he found a new way to feel that kind of music. Once a month there was usually a techno festival in a town nearby: it was amazing! ...all those light shows, carefully designed decorations, lasers, quality sound systems and top DJ's. People seemed to be there for the same reason: to get lost in the crowd and let yourself go. You could tell everybody was actually feeling that music to the max.Took photography classes and impressed by what he had seen, he decided to use it as a final term project. Grabbed his reflex autofocus and tried to do his first article about "Mayday" (2003) in Dorthmund. Each picture was quite a challenge and knew that technically those pictures needed to improve. Satisfied with his first results, that same year he took a greater challenge by taking part of the queen of parties, Berlin's "Love Parade". Impossible hairds, bright decorations and fluorescent dresses that seemed to be a distant future: it was a perfect set where you could find a different story every single minute. It was there where he realized he could understand those sought-after sensations and with high motivation, project www.partyphoto.org was brought to life.He kept in touch with magazine DJ1, in which he collaborated in the publication of articles about the best European electronic music festivals such as Time-Warp (Mannheim), Sonar (Barcelona), Awakenings (Amsterdam), Monegros (Huesca), City Parade (Gent), Creamfields (Almeria)...Nowadays, he is thinking of following a route through different large cities, making articles about nearby clubs where he finds a more intimate environment and complicity with spontaneous models.Give thanks to all of you and the queen of parties that make www.partphoto.org still around us.We never know when it's going to be but...see you in the NEXT MISSION!
