Meet the Filmmakers

Director, Animator, Editor - Tamara Meem
Tamara is a freelance editor in Los Angeles. She recently edited the Toni Collette and the Finish film clip 'Look Up', the documentary 'The A-Z of Suburban Mayhem' and the short dance film 'Shadowplay'. She has edited over 20 short films, and was Previs Coordinator on 'Superman Returns' and Assistant Editor on 'Suburban Mayhem' and 'The Battle of Long Tan'. She was a co-editor and animator on the 2006 claymation series 'Dawn and Barry' and Ernest the Engine'. In 2005 she was awarded the SMPTE Award for Best Use of Technology by an Individual for 'The First Thing I Remember' by Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers, Australia. She has a Master of Arts (Film and Television) specialising in Editing (drama) from the Australian Film Television and Radio school, and a Bachelor of Arts (Communication Studies) from the University of Newcastle, Australia. Over a few years in New York City she worked on 3 independent films and the HBO shows 'Oz' and 'Twas', and HBO documentary 'Rudyland'. She also worked on live coverage of the Winter Olympics in Utah and US Open in New York. Producer - Matt Carter

Matt Carter is an independent film producer who is a recent graduate of the Australian Film, Television & Radio School with a Masters in Producing. After graduation, he was employed at the NSW Film & Television Office as the Regional & Industry Services Officer, up to August 2006.Matt has previously studied film production at the New York Film Academy and at Metro Screen in Sydney. Matt has produced over twenty short films, including drama, documentary, ads / promotions & DVD's. He was attached to Farscape (The Peacekeeper Wars) and to the distributor Darklight when at the AFTRS.Prior to deciding on a producing career, Matt developed his management and financial skills working for twelve years for big five accounting firms as Senior Manager in Sydney and overseas, included five-years living and working in Moscow, Russia.Matt has been an Associate of the Institute of Chartered Accountants since 1993 and holds a Masters of Commerce from UNSW.Matt is based in Sydney, and specialises in the science fiction / fantasy genre through his production company, Enchanter Pty Ltd. He currently is developing a slate of genre-based projects, including ther features "Memory of Breathing" and "Stalking Daylight"Please see www.enchanter.com.au for further information.

Director of Photography - Nicola Daley
Nicola Daley is an award-winning Cinematographer. In 2006 'Debut' won the Best Student Cinematography Award at the National ACS Awards. In 2005 she was awarded the AFTRS High Achievement Award in Cinematography and she shot the 2005 Tropfest winning film 'Australian Summer'. Nicola has won a Gold NSW ACS Award for the short films 'Late Shift', 'Crooked Mick' and 'Debut', and a Highly Commended for Open's 'Break Your Heart' music video and for the 2006 Tropfest commercial. 'Debut' was also invited to be screened at the prestigious 2005 Camerimage Film festival in Poland. Nicola Daley moved from England to Sydney in 1999. Since then she has worked at Lemac for three years, where she was involved with the technical side of cameras. Nicola was accepted into AFTRS to study Cinematography in 2003. Nicola has experience with film, video, and HD and in all areas, from music videos to drama to documentary. She owns her own Sony HDV Z1P camera. She has just completed a 10 week documentary shoot in East Timor, and a 6 part observational documentary series for Iris Pictures and SBS. http://www.myspace.com/nicoladaley

Composer - Biddy Connor
Biddy Connor has been performing and recording with original bands for 14 years. Biddy sang and wrote songs with a Capella group Nude Rain (1989-1996), touring festivals nationally and independently releasing a CD, Drown. The recently disbanded Disaster Plan played together for six years. Recording 4 studio albums and 1 live album. They toured interstate regularly, performing alongside bands Dappled Cities Fly, Devendra Bandhart, Machine Translations, Clare Bowditch, Tex Perkins, Youth Group, George and many more. Biddy performed and recorded with Disaster Plan as a vocalist, viola player, guitarist and keyboardist. Biddy has also recorded as a viola player for many bands. In 2006 she played on Sodastream's latest release, 'Reservations', Emily Ulman and Grand Salvo's upcoming releases. Currently Biddy performs as a Violist with Laura Jean's band. Biddy also performs with Kes Band. In 2005 Biddy was awarded a Gold Medal for excellence in composing at this years Park City Film Music Festival (USA) for the film 'Danya'. Biddy was also awarded a Silver Medal for Excellence - Audience Choice for Best Impact of Music in an Animated Short Film for 'The First Thing I Remember' at the same festival. In 2005 Biddy was nominated for an award at the APRA-AGSC Screen Music Awards in the category of Best Music for a Documentary for her work on the film, 'Switch on the Night'. http://www.myspace.com/biddyconnor

Sound Designer - James Bagley
James Bagley worked on The First Thing I Remember during his Masters degree at AFTRS. He hails from Adelaide, where he first began to work on soundtracks while at university. He has won awards for creative sound design and music on the short films "Incarnations", "Buggin'", and "Daydreams". Since graduating from AFTRS James has been sound editing for TV in Sydney, while continuing to work creatively in sound design and music during his free time. He is always interested in new creative projects in sound for any medium, and hopes to move into feature film sound editing.
