About Me

I began playing guitar in June 2003 when I was 12 years old. Before that I played the drums and was taught by Matt Groves of Snappa. Largely I'm self taught, but after I'd been playing for about 2 years I was fortunate to be taught by Mick Moffat also of Snappa, for 2 or so months. Those 2 months helped me out no end in my progression as a musician.I began as an electric guitarist and was the proud owner of a Danelectro U2 '59 Reissue. It was cream and had a matching tweed hard case. I then sold that to purchase a Tanglewood something or other which was a lovely guitar. Unfortunately it developed a hum whenever I played it so I got rid of that. I then had £325 credit at the place of purchase which enabled me to buy my old Martin 00CXAE. At first I thought this was a lovely guitar, but I then found out that it was a shocking piece of equipment. This guitar got written off (luckily) and with the pay off I purchased the guitar I'm currently using, a Taylor 214. It truly is one of the nicest guitars I've had the privilege of playing let alone owning. As for electric guitars, other than my old Danelectro, I've only owned one electric guitar. An Antoria Strat copy. This set me back £100 and it's the best £100 I've spent. The pickups in it cost £90 a piece and there are three of them in it. The action is as low as can be (seriously low) and I use 8s on it. Despite this dangerous combination, the fret buzz is minimal. I use a 75W Line6 SpiderII as a means of amplification. When I began playing guitar I was a Hendrix fanatic and sought out to play just like him as he truly was my idol. Due to some influences as a child, as well as playing in this way I began playing acoustic guitar. My style of preference as far as that was concerned was the acoustic finger picking style. Playing like that of Tommy Emmanuel was what intrigued me the most. So trying to develop my electric guitar playing and my acoustic playing without the aid of a tutor was difficult somewhat. But now I believe I've got to a point where this is a lot easier.
