The Jefferson Jazz Jammers is a great place to meet musicians. I was asked to join a group getting ready to do a party, which is where I met Bruce Zenone.
While rrehersing for my first New Years Eve gig in more than 20 years, Bruce and I became good friends. We realized our taste in music was similar when, after rehersal, we would launch into Herbie Hancock's "Chameleon", or "Oye Como Va", the Tito Puente tune Carlos Santana covered.
At this same jazz jam, I met a really nice guy and awesome bassist, Dale Woolum. Bruce and I had just gotten together so I asked Dale if he would join us at my place to see if anything clicked. It did. We jammed for hours and had a blast getting to know each other musically. God knows what He is doing, and answered a prayer of mine for help in this interesting ride He has me on.
That all took place last spring. Our first gig was a pig roast for Ed and BJ Perkins. Since then we have been honing the music, the vision, and the friendships. There are some really cool things planned for the not-too-distant future, so stay tuned. Be sure to contact us if you like what you hear. Maybe we can do some music at your place.
