Jonny & The Longwaves were not always known by that name. If you'd been unlucky enough to find yourself in the back room of notorious after-hours hang out The Watchman's Head in East London during the late '90s you would have encountered a remarkably similar band going by the name of 'The Get Carters' playing roughed up RnB to a crowd of the capital's most dangerous & feared gangsters.
During a Get Carters performance on the night of November the 13th 2001 Frankie 'The Farmer' O'Keith lived up to his nickname by pitchforking to death rival mobster Henry Harrison on the dance floor only feet from where the band were jamming Led Zep's 'Good Times, Bad Times.' Now witnesses to a major crime, and knowing that Frankie & his cronies wouldn't let them live to tell the tale to the fuzz or anybody else, the Get Carters fled North in their van.
The Get Carters have been on the run ever since and have performed under a number of aliases, including 'The Christian Soilders Of Jesus Marching Band', 'Saddam's Other Brain' & 'The Arctics Funkys', a funk Arctic Monkeys covers band. Now trading under the name of Jonny & The Longwaves
The band have set up this myspace in order to generate some business to replenish their dwindling funds...the photos, as you can see, are blurred for their protection. For the moment they have settled in York...but Frankie 'The Farmer' & his pitchfork cannot be far away...
