About Me

This myspace page is my music page, so here's my musical background:Ages 5-8 Listened to 3 records of my parents': "the secret life of plants" by stevie wonder, "star wars", and "abby road" by the beatles. Also was obsessed with oldies in 1st grade. Memorized songs like "Help Me Rhonda".Ages 8-13 Made my own mixed tapes from the radio & library (i even spliced!) - mostly r&b, oldies, and classic rock. Whitey Houston, Beastie Boys, Led Zepplin, etc.Participated in chorus competitions & performed solos at school performances. Of course I always got the lame songs, like "the little drummer boy". The training skewed toward gospel. Played a slave in a community theater production of "The King and I". Auditioned for and won a minor role in "Jacob have I loved thee", a PBS mini-series movie, but my mom wouldn't let me do it. (Bitch!)Age 12: My older cousin started sending me tapes of all kinds of shit - punk (west and east coast), hardcore, goth, indie rock, etc.Age 13-14 Discovered industrial, goth, and rave via underage clubs (XLR8, Rotten Apple, etc) in my area & older "cool" ppl i met. Ministry, Skinny Puppy, etc. I also published a 'zine called "Groan" from age 13-15, which was sold in surf shops, etc in DE, MD, and PA. Using my "press-pass" I managed to gain entry into college bands' shows in addition to the all-ages shows at the Knights of Columbus.Age 15-17 Through the local band scene I met some college kids who went to raves & started going regularly with them in Baltimore, DC, Virginia, PA, and even helped throw one in Rehobeth Beach, DE. DJ mixed tapes and party music was pretty much my exclusive influence. Most of it was old-school rave, house, breaks, and ambient.Age 17-19 Moved to New York. A little intimidated by the rave scene - I started attending Giant Step religiously as well as other underground hip-hop/trip-hop/acid-jazz events. Stand-out dj's were Nikodemus, Jazz-y, and Mike Sike. Shortly after I became deeply enthralled with jungle, ragga, and drum & bass. Interviewed Dara, Mike Sike, and Soulslinger for 2West, Parsons' student life magazine. Was a regular at Jungle Nation. Standout dj's were Paul C, Dara, and Odi.Ages 19-20 Started going to NYEX underground techno parties, met Peter Tang & started attending all Sonic Groove related techno events, as well as Satamile's electro parties. Went to local raves in Philly, NJ, Brooklyn, Bronx, and Queens. Stand-out performances were by Adam X, Surgeon, Lenny Dee, DJ Hell, DJ Skull, Derrick Carter, Juan Atkins, Carlos, Reade Truth, etc.Ages 21-25 Co-founded Invisible Fish records. Visited Amsterdam & Rotterdam. Co-produced with Tang on Metempsychose project. Performed 90 minute live PA's at Open Air and Baktun. Signed artists Bald Bastard (Bklyn), TSR (Sweden), Ted Bjorlin (Sweden), and Peter Tang (Bklyn).Ages 26-present Working on expanding musical influences and skills toward a solo body of work. Currently working on a trip-hop/pop/rock project. Listening to a lot of hip-hop, dub, indie rock, bluegrass, and folk. Voice training and writing lyrics. Just got a studio together - a laptop, emu sampler, rm1x sequencer, and nice microphone (like from Hustle & Flow!)
