However many genres and instruments he explores, Wojtek always returns to his first love, jazz, and the saxophone. He launched his solo album career as a jazz artist in 2001 with the album Acid Duck together with Nicci Notini, featuring the guest artists Michal Urbaniak (former solo player in Miles Davis band), Urszula Dudziak, Bengt Arne Wallin, Stanislaw Goral, Anders Jormin, Magnus Johansson, Sebastian Notini and Max Schultz. After years of music studies in Poland and Sweden, he went to the US, staying with the jazz musician Michal Urbaniak who later referred to himself as Wojtek’s musical godfather. He would later participate in Acid Duck. Thanks to the ‘godfather’s’ contacts, Wojtek was availed the opportunity of meeting such jazz luminaries as Herbie Hancock, George Benson, Gil Evans, Mel Lewis, Harvey Mason and many, many more all of whom made a big impression on the young saxophonist. While in the USA, Wojtek studied composition and developed his improvisation technique. On his return to Sweden, Wojtek continued his musical studies at the School of Music and Music Education at the Gothenburg university.
In 1990, he joined the legendary Totta’s Blues Band, in the same year he also met C-M Carlsson, who later on started CMC Records, the label on which both of Wojtek's solo albums are released .
