Firstly - the songs.IN PERSPECTIVE.
Moody Blues influence this one in the same style of their early album openers. Love the idea - this was probably my first successful'ish effort with music thru computer. The poem was written & recorded several years ago and blended with a new tune last year.SO LONG AGO.
Written so long ago - back in the mid '80's and recorded then on an old Casio keyboard and Tascam 4 track amongst other things. This revised edition sounds better but still reminds me of the progressive music of the 70's.
The lyric is based on a ghost story theme, a guy with a sense to a past life during the plague that struck the UK in 1665. Forests can make you feel like that sometimes - I know! ;-)THE VISION.
Another ghost story in the lyric written late 80's. Inspired by Edgar Broughton's song 'The Birth' (still makes my hair stand up! ) and the pure musical/lyrical magic of Strawbs and early Genesis.
Has undergone several big changes to get to this version and it's the one I'm most happy with.FARAWAY PLACES.
One of the first songs I came up with around 1985 and reworked a few months ago to what you hear above. Pretty true to the original I guess. Very intention as it's a tribute to The great Francis Lai and Pierre Batchelet responsible for the superb 'Emmanuelle' 'Bilitis' & 'Histoire D'O' albums of the 70's. Soundtrack at it's best.ARWENA'S DREAM.
A lot of work went into getting this fairly recent song. I'm stilll learning to use what meagre equipment I have, but at the time, I was really struggling with it. One I'm sure I'll try again sometime, I'm sure inside that it can sound better. A song to satisfy my Celtic roots I guess.ANGEL.
Another oldie. Written around 1986-7 and somehow possibly, the old 4 track copy seems to lend itself better than this version. Maybe it's because i 'hear' it in 1940's style I guess and anything that depreciates the quality (but not too badly) adds authenticity. Difficult to reproduce anyways as the instrumentation each time is simply ad-lib.Now - a bit about meI've been messing with musical ideas since the mid 80's and along with new projects, I'm currently re-working early stuff too.
You'll no doubt realise that my musical ideas might not be matched by my abilities or facilities to reproduce them to the best they might become.
These are just a few old and new ones.
If you'd like to help me realise these ideas in any way, with of course every due credit, either as a vocalist, a musician, or on the technical or marketing side, I'd be delighted to hear from you.I also enjoy creating images through photography and maybe the work I create in both fields influence each other.
Certainly music inspires my images and vice versa.
I also produce cd & poster images for groups, artists etc.
