audio engineer, producer, pianist, band leaderAfter graduating Belmont with a music degree, I kept myself busy writing and transcribing charts, arranging and sequencing for publishing companies. I headed up a pop/funk/dance band called SOIREE. What a killer experience! I cut my teeth on Country Music production as an assistent for producer and label head, Kyle Lehning.Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, Steve Cropper, hired me to build a studio for him on Music Row and engineer for him. It is here at Insomnia Studio that I continue producing and engineering project recordings.I have a very commercial ear which spans pop, rock, progressive and country. It was developed mainly just by listening to radio my entire life. Also, as a band leader, I learned musically what sold liquor! It seems that what I like musically, normally, most peaple like. My productions can appeal to a larger audience than just the targeted demographic.I love to develop acts! There are plenty of producers here that are great at copying. "Just play what's on the demo!" But to actually create something great that hasn't ever existed, is what I do best. The trick is to find what makes an artist unique and exploit the hell out of that! From a girl who has all the vocal "licks" to a young country rocker who is basically a one trick pony, they all need developing. That "one trick" still has to be defined. That's what I'm here for. I can give a lot of aspiring artists that chance of "making it" that they would never get with thr "copy cat" producers. Most of the time, the hardest acts to develop may technically be the most talented. But, they tend to be a victim of their versatility. They may sing all styles great, but, who are they really? Again, that's my job to find out!
