Flo Paris started performing at the age of three, and hasn't stopped since. Encouraged by a large, musical family, Flo would perform Whitney Houston songs, accompanied by her Father on guitar. Back then it was Whitney, Amy Grant and Annie, but by the age of ten the score of Annie had given way to the piano, and four years later she picked up the guitar.
Flo honed her vocal talents during two years of formal music studies and five years singing in Madrigals, Concert Choirs and vocal Jazz ensembles. She wrote and performed an original Jazz composition for the ACSI Musicale competition in Pasadena, California in March of 1998, and spent the next five years writing and music for church, as well as playing original pieces throughout California and Tennessee.
In addition to her solo work, Flo finished singing in a rare series of live shows with progressive rock powerhouse Glass Hammer, including shows in Nashville, Rhythm and Brews in Chattanooga, an appearance at the NEARfest 2003 progressive rock festival in New Jersey during June of 2003, an appearance at the "Past Watchful Dragons" conference at Belmont University in November 2005, and most recently a double concert event at the Tivoli in Chattanooga, TN this past October.
Flo's unique folk-influenced singer-songwriter style is well suited to small, intimate venues like bookstores and coffee shops, where she is now taking her music. Flo's first full length album entitled, "Practice Room" is now available through www.floparis.net.
In addition to her musical endeavors, Flo enjoys cooking and "computing" on her Mac.
She taught preschool for 2 years before becoming a full-time musician.
She and her husband, Josh Oakes, celebrated their 5 year anniversary in June and have 2 beautiful girls, Sera Sage who is 2 1/2 and Amelie who was born in August.
