About Me

I make objects mostly out of other objects. Sometimes the objects are relatively flat and sometimes they are not. Tradition or the academy or those who market art objects in various ways would have us divide these flat objects and not-so-flat objects into rigid categories such as painting, printmaking, and sculpture. It is easier to explain sell and market something that can be categorized. If something is sculpture you have as context the entire history of sculpture. The same holds true for every medium or category of art making. An artist like myself, living right now today must consider tradition but must ultimately reject the prevailing viewpoint of the past. Context is everything. You cannot escape it. Context (in this context) refers to physical, metaphorical, and historical frames surrounding all objects including of course art objects and the component parts which make up the art objects. There are no rules in art making. Everything must be on the table. Context, content, composition, popcorn, soybeans, hearts, Ohio, New York, D.C., Marion, Popcornland, my fear of wiener dogs, devolution, 4 is the new 3, quad, corn on the cob (mostly in simulacrum form) a wide evolving definition of art.Oh, it's also true that: I'm sarcastic. I tend to like other sarcastic people. I am a natural born pessimist and an introvert. I'm trying my best right now to fight my pessimistic and introverted nature and be more optimistic and outgoing. I'm interested in meeting creative people. I'm interested in meeting my artistic equal in a female. I find females with glasses and cowgirl boots very attractive. When I first meet new people I'm usually pretty shy but it's not because I don't want to get to know them. I can also be a bit socially awkward at times (maybe an understatement). I can be quite nerdy with certain subjects. I sometimes get really into one small niche subject and try find out everything I can about it. One last declarative statement: doing the dishes and the laundry and sleeping and eating and paying the bills are all things you may feel you need to do at least from time to time but, they should never be confused with art or art making.

My Interests

Art and moviemaking, Females, movie marathons, words, cons and fakers, contemporary myths, biofiction, genuine people, collage, noise, melody, coffee, making things, perception manipulation, composition, skepticism, sarcasm, radical comedians, female artists who make good stuff and or have good ideas, artists who make good stuff and or have good ideas, editing out the bad parts, media manipulation and propaganda, cutting stuff out, hugs, falling in love, being productive, finding art at the thrift store and "fixing it", finding weird stuff at the thrift store making "sculpture" out of it(gluing two equally stupid things together so they cancel each other out and cease to be stupid in the same way.) Oh, there are more and it gets weirder.

I'd like to meet:

A frauline from Ohio perhaps. Someone who likes thrift store shopping and making art would be quite nice. Someone I like to talk to even though I don't like to talk all that much. Also, Jeff Koons and a serious patron of the arts who would like to amass the first great art collection of the first half of the 21th century. If you fit the bill please get a hold of me.
