Reviews:
"Reworked. Rearranged. Regrouped."
"To Outlive The Beginning are back with their new EP. Five songsof hammering drums, aggressive guitars, and a new singer that growlsand even sings (check out track five, the most radio friendly...if youcan call it that).
So, here they are, finally, after a year of line up changes, namechanges, and challenges. Back with their new official EP.
Recorded at Joe Loftus Studios, the cd is damn near perfect. The soundis typical Loftus quality, emphasizing a full sound and superb balanceand clarity.
This is some of drummer Mike Tyahur's tightest stuff. He's definitelyprogressed over the past year and it shows on the five song EP.
Tyahur and bassist Brandon Whipple really anchor the band. Chuggingbass and blasting drums tightly back a wall of guitars.
Guitarists Bill Check and Ryan Farrell are extremely talented and showoff their capabilities with ease. Their work is a definite highlight tothe songs.
The band gave me their cd and said "check out song five, "Our FreeRide"..Steve sings on it". Now, I'm not a huge fan of vocalists thatscream constantly, song after song after song. Just listening to themmakes my throat dry and scratchy.
Few singers keep my attention with that particular style. Few mix it upwith an assortment of highs and lows, giving the listener somethingmore than screeeech, roooaar, raaaahhhhhh in a monotonous raspy scream.A bit of emotion is always good. Sounding like a blender during eversong is fucking boring.
Some bands don't bother because, maybe it takes away their tough guycred..who knows?
Maybe they only scream because they can't sing.
Weber's vocals have good qualities to them and when I heard them say heactually sings on a song, I was...well scared, because so many bandstry to slip that one in. Some actual singing amongst angst riddenvocals about...I don't know...heavy metal things, can work, but manyfail.
I've heard some that the instant they open their mouth to belt out afew notes, I lose complete interest in the song. I would much ratherthat screeeech, roooaar, raaaahhhhhh blender shit, because some singlike an amputee - can't carry a note..can't hold a tune.badabump!
Weber however, suprised me. After hearing his vocals in "Our Free Ride"I wished there was more in the previous tracks. He definitley has atalent and should consider expanding on that more. To me, it addedanother dimension to the song. Hopefully he won't lose his tough guycred if he does."

"A Few Words."
"For a band that's been through more member changes than I've everwitnessed, they have come out stronger than ever. Coming from a scenewhere every band looks the same and writes some of the most genericmusic, To Outlive The Beginning stands out and breaks out of themold with some of the most intense and well written songs that I haveheard in recent times. With the addition of Steve Weber on vocals, theband has added so many more dimensions to their sound that the futureof To Outlive The Beginning is one that I can't wait tosee."
- Eric Davis (Flower Booking)
"You will be amazed by the new sound these guys have!!! With newsinger, Steve Weber, their songs are heavier than ever, with a bit of amelodic twist!!! More breakdows...More brutality!!!"

"I'd like to start this off saying Steve and Ryan, for taking overformer members places in To Outlive The Beginning, you have bothrisen above the occasion. As a band now you guys are not afraid to bobyour head to your own music, write material for fans all over thecountry to get off their asses and dance to, you're not afraid toshowcase your material, and definatly take all the pride possible, andbottle it up showcasing yourselves as To Outlive TheBeginning."
- Devan Fenton (Final PlagueRecords)
