En·ceph·a·lon(n-sf-ln) (Greek for "in the head")
---is the control center of the central nervous system.
The brain is located in the head, protected by the skull
and close to the primary sensory apparatus of vision,
hearing, taste and olfaction. In humans, it is an organ
of thought. Brains can be extremely complex. The human
brain is the most anterior part of the central nervous
system and by way of the cranial nerves and spinal cord
controls the peripheral nervous system and regulates
virtually all human activity.
