Granite City Underground

STRAIGHT OUTTA BARRE MOTHERFUCKER!

About Me

Granite City Underground is the kind of music that makes you want to dance like no ones watching with a fist in the air, and possibly kick a baby or two. with its brash, in your face vocals and driving beat, GCR will have you coming back for more even if you dont want to. Bitch
Da Band
Rory Fitz is a man's man, the kind of man you read about in the bible. A man who came from a time when beating your woman was not only socially acceptable, but encouraged (not that I'm saying spousal abuse is right, I'm just saying that sometimes she deserves it). He has the charisma of Frank Sinatra and the rugged manliness of a lumber jack.
Steve Coyle embodies a new generation of men who show their strength in their personality but are not afraid to breast feed their children.
Geoff Greemore was minding his own damn business in his back yard when a black bear had the audacity to assault him in his own home. Greemore pulled out his 3 inch knife and called the bear on, circling him like a wrestler in a ring. The bear kept swatting at him, but Greemore ducked, then stabbed the bear in the face each time it lunged. When the bear finally had enough of its shit ruined, it finally gave up and died like a pussy: its tongue was severed, jaw broken and it had several new assholes ripped into it, making it more aerodynamic (if you happen to be optimistic).
Tanner Acebo is like the Brawny paper towel mascot. He has that image of outdoors, strength, confidence, and ruggedness, but what about his character? It's there, and it's awesome.
Marcus Casadonte is only in the band because he cried suffieciently enough for the rest of the band to take pity on him. Turns out, there wasnt another man who could handle playing a cowbell upside another mans face like marcus could. That and he has the world record for fastest guitar and cymbol change between songs of 10.5 seconds! Amazing.
DA SONGS
Dead Puppies Part I: Cerberus - Guitar-Rory, Vocals-Geoff, Bass-Steve, Drums-Tanner, Trombone-Rory.
As it must seem obvious, this song is about the struggle that happens to one's inner most self during the course of one's life. It is a realization of the true nature of things and that fate is inexorably leading us into a situation where our consciousness simply cannot help but lead us on. One may look at the compatibalist views of David Hume and relate it to the want for more choice in our lives through our capability to make rational descisions for ourselves. That and punting bitches.
Dead Puppies Part II: Lassie - Guitar-Rory,Vocals-Geoff, Bass-Steve.
It is most apparent in this song that GCU believes that the complaining the problems of the world is not the way to solve the problems of the world. Merely protesting the establishment is not going to make your voice heard. simply put, actions speak much louder than words do, and it is those actions that we make that will shape the course of our future, be it in a positive or negative way. That, and hippies can blow us.
The Ballad of Chris Maher - Guitar-Geoff, Vocals-Steve, Bass-Rory, Drums-Tanner
Simply put, this song was about how our daily rituals can end up leading us into situations that may not best suit the nature of our being. How one way or another things are not always going to end up the way we like them. Looking into the views of Nietsche we see that the sickness we feel in our daily lives is not something we must merely grow accustomed to, but we must struggle against it to become stronger, we must not fall back upon weakness even if it means relying on a more primal instinct. That and the book "Dune", of course.
Story of GCU Not Really- Guitar-Rory Vocals-Rory, Bass-Steve, Drums-Tanner
Why not Geoff on this song? i dunno he got lazy. but whatever, this song is about the fact that our band is, interestingly enough, located at the center of the universe, and we really like to make fun of our friends. we got bored with practicing our other stuff and decided to give our fans a look into how our practices are run by putting up a song that we just sort of dicked around on. enjoy.
