About Me

In the moment before I die I will see the picnic table in the park where I read and Orlando watches the squirrels. The sun will be out only when the wind reveals it through the clouds and I will be drinking an orange mango nantucket nectar. I will recall an evening conversation with my mother, telephonically. The distance between us becoming irrelevant as we volley the post office line that would never end and the frustration over bills and progress. The cell phone minutes will creep by, the sun will set, and I will say good-bye until tomorrow. Orlando and I will slowly make our way down 2nd avenue back to our one room mansion four floors above the never sleeping streets strewn with an occasional prostitute, lovers kissing their departure away until next time, or a bicycle messenger flattened under a taxi tire. I will look around the house and think, tomorrow I should really throw half of everything I own away. Orlando will move the covers around the bed until he is nestled in a hole slightly smaller than himself. I will crawl in next to him, lean up against the blue fun fur walls with a magazine, Discover, National Geographic, or Blue Planet, and begin reading it from start to finish.

Yesterday I learned the power of the smile, the curiosity it inflicts and the contagious effects. I also learned the way I love you can begin to fail, not quite make the mark. It seems hollow and p...

When I lay my head down at night I can feel my breath slowly leaving my chest cavity and my heart drowns out the sound of the streets below.

Playing with the hem you found a loose thread and unraveled my skin. As it falls around my ankles I blush with shame, do you like what you see?

I wish that I had a book that could walk me through the next scene. A book that I could go back and reread to consume a sense of whether this heroine is a victim, whether she deserves any kind of sup...
