It's always the quiet ones...

About Me

..
I'm one of those people who just jump into things that spark her interest and generally taking them to places they were never meant to go.
My first love has always been doing horror makeup effects, which is something I'd torment my family with at a very young age. Most of my work has been for theatrical events or for still photography, but nowadays I've been stretching my wings and doing FX for film. And here my mother thought I would grow out of it...
I've also been designing and making costumes for going on seventeen years now, working for various attractions, theatres, shows, events, and private clients. While I'm no longer working in that profession full time, I can be coaxed to spend a few hours in front of my sewing machines to make commissioned costumes for Halloween, proms, weddings, and other special events.
In 1998, my husband Duckie and I started Siren Productions, which began with creating in photorials and stage shows and we're now exploring the final frontier...film.
I also took a course on interior decorating back a few years ago because it caught my interest. Of course, far too many years of working in haunted attractions and Grand Guignol style theatre got the best of me, and I began designing simulated environments, following the path set by the Pentagonal Revisionism in regards to Total Environments while applying my skills in set-designing into modern, functional interior decorating. It's just another example about how any seemingly-normal path I start off on will go flying off into weird and twisted directions. And yes, I am available to do these for other people. Just contact me for details.
In case you haven't guessed by now, I'm also experienced in dressing theatrical sets.
Garith Pettibone and I operate Headless Historicals , where we use dolls to commemorate the life and gruesome death of various historical figures as well as doing custom requests. (This is how we finance some of our other projects.)
When I'm not up to my eyeballs in fabric, plaster, or corn syrup blood, I do an awful lot of writing. My essays have gained a bit of a following over the years, and I now go off on various subjects in several different forums. I've written articles for various publications on creative decorating, religion, politics, sexuality, history, and controversial topics. I also have a few screenplays floating around.
Regrettably, I haven't had quite as much time to put ink to paper lately, as I have been working my tail off on film production. But fear not... when the films go into post and I have a couple weeks between projects to catch up on my writing.
Other places you can find me on the web:
WWW.DARKNEEDLES.COM - my "official" website, featuring my various portfolios.
The Executioner's Notebook - My blog specifically for discussions on capital punishment in history and current events regarding the death penalty.
The Magpie on the Gallows - A blog meant more for mainstream discussions on controversial issues.
Shiva's Film Reviews - Blog exclusively to archive my film reviews and allow for comments
Artistic Devil - Website for dark-themed and dark-minded artists.

My Interests

Interests change from year to year, or even moment to moment... oh, something shiny and new!
But the time-tested standard interests include raising ferrets, viewing movies, forensics and true crime, reading, writing, crafts, and attempting to cook.

I'd like to meet:

People with similar interests who can form complete sentences when writing and aren't contacting me for the sole purpose of trying to get laid.
I'm very interested in meeting people in the film industry (networking).

Music:

All-time favorite is Alice Cooper, both for the music and the stage performances. Music interests generally vary wildly, depending on my mood.

Movies:

Some favorites include: Titus, Seven, Dellamorte Dellamore (Cemetary Man), Suspiria, The Conqueror Worm, The Devil's Rejects, Elizabeth I, A Clockwork Orange, Pierrepoint, Final Destination, To Kill A King, American Psycho, Dangerous Liasians, Saw, Scream, Alien, The Silence of the Lambs, Candyman, Harrison Bergeron, Mr. Frost, Hostel 2, Amadeus.

Television:

Dexter, Battlestar Galactica, Family Guy, Penn & Teller's Bullshit, Law & Order, Weeds, Bill Maher's Real Time.

Books:

I'm not much of a fiction reader, although I will pick up one from time to time if it comes highly recommended by someone who knows where my tastes run. Otherwise, I'm likely to be reading about true crime and investigations, or a how-to book on whatever my interests happen to be at the time. I also have a great passion for photo books on architecture and interior design.

Heroes:

Stewie from Family Guy.
