Biografie Defer S.:The year 2007 will be the year that the Dutch deejay and producer Deffer S. can say he’s dedicated to housemusic for more then fifteen years.Deffer S. is born on August 10th 1981 in the Netherlands as Bobby van Balen and already cutted and taped his Elvis tapes at the age of seven and tried to get the same results as mastermixer ‘Ben Liebrand’Although this experiment ended as a drama, Bobby didn’t gave up the mixing and two years later he saw a chance to buy a simple mixer and two cd players without pitch control (those didn’t exists at that time..).Thanks to the mixer and cdplayers he was finally capable to mix into’s and outro’s from cd!
On a day Bobby’s brother came home with two imitation direct drive turntables and a mixer that he bought from his saved Birthday money .
That was the opportunity for Bobby to practice mixing with records and turntables with pitchcontrol.He often practiced without asking, most of the time when his elder brother ‘Roy’went to school.
Bobby learned quickly and at the age of fifteen he already played for the firt time in front of a crowd at the local youth centre at Wijk bij Duurstede , a small city, where Bobby lived at that time.A year later Bobby graduated and started to work in a populair recordstore in the city Utrecht called: Twist and Shout.
Thanks to this job he had 24-7 access to the best dance records and immediately maked contact with the right people and people started to book him for events through the whole Netherlands.
Two years later Bobby started to work for one of the biggest record store companies there is in the Netherlands called Midtown records.
At that same time, must have been around the year 2000, Bobby joined a local band as a scratch deejay , the band was called “Ishuâ€.
Through the years Bobby started to feel becoming a producer.
This feeling was naturally caused by the work as record salesman and deejay, including the experiences of the band.Today the twenty five year old Bobby learned himself how to created his own style as a deejay and producer.
Bobby mainly plays and produces a blend of hardcore,techno,oldskool and breakbeat Bobby likes to play long sets as a deejay and each set is a variety in hardcore styles and in mixing techniques.
Bobby dislikes to think narrow minded of music.
His up building sets with up’s and downs take you on a tour through Bobby’s hardcore and oldskool universe.
He always pushes his limits to grab the audience and you can almost say that he suits himself as a chameleon, musically to his environment and crowd.
Bobby suites his music to the concept, crowd and time without losing his favourite house sounds or without playing/propping all major hits in one hour.Nowadays Bobby works on various hard orientated tracks in his studio and he’s still busy deejaying through the whole Netherlands.
Next to this he’s part time active as salesman at the biggest recordstore you can imagine today: Midtown records in Amsterdam.
Bobby pushes his limits to publice his first release and already has some options to release his music.
