About Me

Born in Vietnam, growing up in San Diego. The most prominent Asian American Skateboarder in the world is best known for his super-high ollies. Skateboarding has been a very important part of his life and sees it as a true form of art, combining mind, body and spirit. He first began his artistic career at the age of 15, venturing in the world of skateboarding. 4 years later he was given his own skateboard model by a company called H-Street and turned professional. Since then he has been skate & sponsored by Puma, Vans, Life, Planet Earth, Maple & dynasty and “Dynasty Skateboard” is the company he created and imparted lots of spiritual concept & design.Kien is immersed in music and it has always been a part of his life ever since the early hip-hop days of Eric B and Rakim. Started making beats with looping 2 cassette decks that everyone seems to go through in the early days. He exposes into music such as instrumental hip-hop, down tempo & Acid jazz but to give a surprise, he was also inspired by those underground DJs such as King of Cuts, Mark Farina & C.M.B during mid 90’s. In addition to that, he was also having influences like Bruce lee, Chuang-tzu & lao-tzu, the great Chinese predecessors who gave Kien lots of meaning in life and learnt its’ theory & philosophy. One of his trademark hair-do of super-long double braids is expression of his humanism background and he knows enough about life exercise the physical and spiritual relation of our being with the world around us.
