About Me

RAmez a Lebanese French Rapper left his country during the civil war to live in France and went to the United States for his higher education. During his time abroad he will develop a passion for radio as well as for rap. It is in Paris that RAmez discovers the power that radio talk shows have to spread messages and the strength of words shared through that blind medium. During his studies of communication with an electronic media emphasis RAmez hosts many different shows in relation to rap and often participates in socio-cultural events on campus while developing his skills as an author and a composer. In 1999 RAmez gets the first price during the talent night show. In 2001 two tracks of RAmez are selected to be part of a compilation exclusively distributed in the United States (Songs from the Edge 2001) “Ma flamme” and “Y’aura pas de paix” (Featuring Armagideon and Stealth)After September 11th the song “Y’aura pas de paix” which would be translated by “there won’t be peace” is aired on many shows and this does not satisfy the authority and the administration on campus. RAmez will use his radio show ("Extension 1312") to promote many events in which he takes part to enlighten students with another side of History concerning the Middle East and in relation to the situation within the Arab world. The positive feedback received allows RAmez to find a meaning behind his nickname. While symbolizing Lebanon in foreign countries RAmez means in Arabic “Symbol”. RA representing an Egyptian figure which allows stressing on the point that in order to understand the present you have to dig into the past.RAmez will release his first underground CD called, “Le monde est A refaire” (The world should be rebuilt) and decides to go back to his birth country.Once in Lebanon RAmez will try to follow the same steps but this time, he will encounter much more difficulties. In 2001 a production house offers RAmez to sign for a track that is supposed to appear the same year on a compilation. This is when the 1st version of “Leich Heik Baladé” (why is my country like that?) is created. In this track RAmez tries to explain why is Lebanon the way it is. The song itself will only be performed live and not released as planned.RAmez will host as a result many radio shows throughout which he communicates and puts in value ideas that relate to his rap.In 2005, during a concert RAmez is noticed by an independant producer and signs a contract while staying faithful to himself and his public. The 1st EP of RAmez called "Leich Heik Baladé" is now available everywhere in Lebanon and the second version of the song "Leich Heik Baladé" can now be heard on five radio stations in Lebanon : Radio Liban (96.2FM), Pax, France FM (92.5FM) Radio Scope and NRJ (99FM) The song "Leich Heik Baladé" has also made it up to number 5 in the NRJ Top 20 leading RAmez to become in 2007 "The only Lebanese Rapper that made it to the NRJ Lebanon Top 20"Please do not hesitate to leave your comments and to contact us for more information on the +961 3-356-398
