Bio's~*Kasey Kahne Biography*~Kasey Kahne was born April 10, 1980. He is orginally from Enumclaw, WA and currently resides in Huntersville, NC.Kasey spent comes from a grass roots racing background. His Dad owned several sprint cars and Kasey spent a lot of time at local dirt tracks. His first competitive laps came on dirt tracks and he won four races in his first season running Micro Midgets. In 1998, Kasey was just 18 yrs old and running full-size sprint cars, winning 12 events that year. But shortly thereafter, Steve Lewis (he found racing greats Jeff Gordon & Tony Stewart) offered Kasey a sprint midget and Silver Crown deal that would run the full United States Auto Club (USAC) schedule. In his first season in USAC, Kahne garnered the Silver Crown Rookie of the Year award and both the USAC Midget Series Champion and Driver of the Year honors. In 2002, Kahne signed with Robert Yates to run a limited NASCAR Busch Series Grand National Division schedule. His best finish was a 10th place effort at Michigan International Speedway. Kaseys first Busch win came in the 2003 season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway. It took Kasey nearly two years to get his first win in NASCAR which surprised him but admits that he needed & benefited from the extra experience. Then came a big break. In 2003, Kahne was chosen to drive the No. 9 Dodge, replacing Bill Elliott who was only running a partial schedule. Kasey was ecstatic about this opportunity with Ray Evernham and in 2004, assumed the role as full-time driver of the No. 9 Dodge Dealers/UAW Dodge. Kahne, a 2004 rookie in Nextel Cup, was also doing double duty as both a Busch & Nextel Cup driver. But went on to win the coveted 2004 Nextel Cup Rookie of the Year award beating fellow rookie drivers, Brendan Gaughan, Scott Wimmer, Johnny Sauter, Brian Vickers & Scott Riggs.Kasey has become one of Nextel Cups hottest young drivers. He hass accummulated an incredible fan base, especially among women who consider Kasey just plain beautiful as well as talented. Kasey earned an impressive $5.4M in 2004 or the 13th highest paid driver that year. But he earned it. Not only did Kasey claim the ROTY title but he scored 13 top-five finishes including five bridesmaid finishes and made a bit of NASCAR history on the way. In February 2004 he raced Matt Kenseth at Rockingham in one of the closest races in NASCAR history since the advent of electronic timing in 1993. Matt edged Kasey by 0.010 seconds to record the 5th closest margin of victory ever (Kurt Busch & Ricky Craven own the closest race ever with a margin of 0.002 seconds).SOURCE: www.racehippie.com~*Elliott Sadler Biography*~The Sadler family began their involvement in racing nearly 45 years ago. Bud Elliott, Sadler's uncle for which he was named, and father Herman Sadler, along with their brothers, raced on the short tracks of Virginia long before the young Sadler was born. It was here where, just as his father and uncle before him, Sadler received his training on the short tracks of his home state.Climbing behind the wheel of his first go-kart at age seven, Sadler captured over 200 victories before moving into the Late-Model Stock car division and adding several series championships to his resume. At the age of 18, Sadler joined the ranks of the weekly racing series clinching a track championship title at South Boston Speedway in 1995. His success in the series served as a stepping-stone to NASCAR after he caught the eye of team owner Gary Bechtel. Bechtel tabbed the young driver to pilot his car in a full-season Busch Series effort in 1997.Sadler wasted no time in proving his ability, as the rookie driver captured the pole for the season-opening event at Daytona International Speedway. Thirteen starts are all Sadler would need to capture his first career Busch Series win as he wheeled his team to victory at Nazareth ( Pa. ) Speedway . Sadler rounded out his rookie year with three more poles and two more victories at Myrtle Beach Speedway and Gateway International Raceway. He finished the year an impressive fifth in the Busch Series championship standings, and was the recipient of the Busch Pole Award for the most poles won in a single season. Sadler scored two more Busch Series wins in 1998 (Bristol Motor Speedway and North Carolina Speedway), in what would be his final season as a full-time Busch Series driver. In 1999, the legendary Wood Brothers, also native to Virginia, looked no further than their own back yard to find the driver for their No. 21 entry and signed Sadler to his first full-time NASCAR Cup Series ride. Their first victory together came in 2001 when in his 75th career start Sadler took the checkered flag at Bristol Motor Speedway. The win in “ Thunder Valley ” was monumental for two reasons. Sadler charged to the point position from 38th place on the starting grid – the deepest in the field from which a driver ever won at the half-mile track. More importantly, it returned the Wood Brothers to victory lane for the first time since 1993.After four seasons, Sadler and the Wood Brothers parted ways and the Virginia native headed for Robert Yates Racing (RYR). Sadler posted two pole positions at Darlington Raceway and Talladega Superspeedway in 2003 with his No. 38 team. Sadler completed the year with two top five and nine top 10 finishes resulting in a 22nd-place finish in the point standings. Energy was infused into Sadler's team with personnel changes during the off-season, setting the stage for Sadler's most successful season to date. His 2004 season proved to be a breakout one as the Virginia native surprised many in the garage area. Sadler struck early at the season opening event as Daytona International Speedway by winning the outside pole for the prestigious Daytona 500. Later in Speedweeks, Sadler took the checkered flag for a win in the Gatorade Twin 125 qualifying event giving then primary sponsor, M&M'S, their first ever trip to Victory Lane.Success was sweet and continued throughout the season as Sadler saw more of the same with an emotional win at Texas Motor Speedway. Later in the season Sadler scored his third career victory at California Speedway clinching a position in the inaugural NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Chase for the Championship. Sadler was one of four drivers to stay in the top 10 in the point standings the entire season and rounded out the year with two wins, eight top-five and 14 top-10 finishes, finishing a respectable ninth in the championship standings. In 2005, Sadler was strong out of the gate holding a top-five points position for the first half of the season. Late season difficulties plagued the No. 38 Team as they narrowly missed qualifying for their second Chase for the Championship finishing 11th in points at the cutoff race at Richmond International Raceway in September. Still, there were several highlights for Sadler in 2005 as he clinched four pole positions including the starting spot at the prestigious Brickyard 400 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. After three and a half seasons with RYR, Sadler made the move to Evernham Motorsports in August of 2006. To begin building momentum for the 2007 season and beyond, Sadler took the wheel of the No. 19 Dodge Dealers/UAW Dodge Charger at Michigan and will finish out the 2006 season at his new home at Evernham Motorsports. His first outing driving for Ray Evernham and Dodge, UAW, Dodge Dealers, Valvoline, Stanley and all of the partners of the Evernham Motorsports team proved eventful. Sadler qualified his Dodge on the outside pole and brought it home in the 10 th position, the first top-10 finish for the car this year. This gave Evernham partners and fans just a glimpse of what the future holds for Elliott Sadler and his No. 19 Dodge team.SOURCE: www.evernhammotorsports.com~*Scott Riggs Biography*~Scott Riggs started his racing career on two-wheels in AMA Motocross competition at the age of 14. He won the North Carolina State Championship two years in a row and finished third in the 1987 National Competition. Riggs eventually moved into NASCAR’s Mini Stock Division at the age of 17, making quite an impression by winning a dozen races in just three seasons, then setting his sights on the NASCAR Late Model Stock division in 1990.Over the next 10 years, the Bahama, N.C., native accumulated 36 wins in NASCAR Late Model divisions. Riggs was named track champion at Southern National Speedway in Kenly, N.C., twice before joining the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series in 2000, where he made 17 starts that year.In 2001, he finished fifth in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series points standings with five wins, 14 top-five finishes, 16 top-10 finishes and five pole positions in 24 events.Riggs’ racing career quickly progressed to the next level again as he moved into the NASCAR Busch Series in 2002. He was named Rookie of the Year after winning two events and earning eight top-five and 13 top-10 finishes en route to a 10 th-place finish in the series standings. In 2003, Riggs led the Busch Series points several times throughout the season and posted wins at Nashville Superspeedway and Gateway International Raceway on his way to a sixth-place season finish.Riggs debuted in the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series in 2004 as the driver of the No. 10 Valvoline car for MBV Motorsports. In 35 events, Riggs had one top-five and two top-10 finishes, including a fifth-place finish at the Monster Mile in Dover, Del.In 2005, Riggs earned two top-five and four top-10 finishes with a second place finish at Michigan and a fourth-place run in the Daytona 500. He also claimed his first career pole in the spring race at Martinsville. In August of 2005, Valvoline Evernham Racing LLC, a partnership between Valvoline and Evernham Motorsports, announced that Scott Riggswill drive the No. 10 Dodge Charger in the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series in 2006. Valvoline will be the primary sponsor on the No. 10 Valvoline Dodge Charger for 24 races and a co-primary sponsor for the remaining 12.
