is a five-piece Hard Rock, Alternative, band with a Deep Dark Edge including, flavors of Goth, Metalcore, Hardcore, Industrial and Melodic based out of Metropolitan Boston that writes music that is as someone had said, dark, heavy, all-encompassing, smothering, luscious
Coven of 13 began its musical storm back in the Stone Age days of early 2004. After several months of looking for members the last element was in place at the beginning of May of that year. The band spent the next several weeks writing a set for their first gig on June 19th. By the time of their 3rd show on July 15th, people where asking if the band had CD's for sale. Like most bands the Coven had its growing pains with members coming and going but the group persevered and is now going stronger than ever.
The Coven of 13 crew comes from diverse backgrounds ranging from Jazz, Celtic, Funk, Punk, Pop, Classical, Hardcore, Opera, Speed Metal, Death Metal and Folk. The band says that instead of sounding like this genre or that, they will create their own unique sound while not going so far off that no one knows what they are doing. Of course there is that dark side which always seems to show its frowning face.
