EVERYDAY
I used to know a man with a magic 8-ball tattooed on his arm
it changed from "yes" to "no" to "maybe" with each question he asked
(should I stop smoking?)
(will my mother ever love me again?)
(am I ever going to be normal?)
he wouldn't let me ask a question
he said "knowledge is dangerous, I am trying to protect you"
when he fell asleep I used to stay awake and ask every question I could think of
(should I start painting again?)
(will I ever go home?)
(is the world going to end?)
the only answer I ever got was "ask again later"
the day we broke up, he kissed me on the cheek and said
"you can ask your question now"
so I shook his hand and asked the most important question
(are we in love?)
"yes"
I used to know a man with a magic 8-ball tattooed on his arm
but the future was all lies
I don't believe in failure because simply by saying you've failed, your admitting you made an attempt, & anyone who attempts is not a failure. Those who truly fail in my eyes are the ones who never try at all. They're the ones who just sit on their couches and bitch & moan and wait for the world to change for them.
After a while. By Veronica A. Shoffstall Aged 19
After a while you learn the subtle difference between holding a hand and chaining a soul,
And you learn that love doesn't mean leaning and company doesn't mean security,
And you begin to learn that kisses aren't contracts and presents aren't promises,
And you begin to accept yours defeats with your head up and your eyes open, with the grace of an adult,
not the grief of a child,
And you learn to build all your roads on today because tomorrow's ground is too uncertain for plans,
After a while you learn that even sunshine burns if you get too much.
So plant your own garden and decorate your own soul, instead of waiting for someone to bring you flowers.
And you learn that you really can endure...
That you really are strong,
And you really do have worth.
