I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

I'm quite often dissapointed by how frequently people are engaged in the most trivial of things - but that's all opinion, and I'm pretty sure everyone learns to live with (and hopefully not by) dissapointment. The opinion of myself is that i'm a tad too cynical, a tad too idealistic, a bit inward, and don't wash the dishes regularly enough. I listen to a lot of music and most of the positive things in my life seem to derive from that. And friends. Because, I love me some love, I love me some early-early morning conversations, and I quite enjoy your mother's sweet, sweet heiney.

I'd like to meet:

Just about anyone. I want to meet people that have a good head on their shoulders instead of up their ass. People that think of music as more than entertainment. People with a sense of humor. People that "just don't get it." People that do "get it," so they can enlighten me. People that are down to earth.
Not, of course, that I myself have any of those traits. :-P Drop me a line. I'm hungry for wormmeat.

Below you'll see a video for "Mana-mana" as shown on The Muppet Show , episode one of season one. One of the most amusing things I've ever seen broadcast on television. Jim Henson was ahead of his time. And you're never too old for muppets. :-)
OLD MAN #1 TO OLD MAN #2: The question is.. what is a "mana-mana?" OLD MAN #2 TO OLD MAN #1: The question is.. who cares??

Right now, favorite artists include Joy Division, The Ex, Mogwai, The Velvet Underground, and Mac Lethal.
So I like a little of everything I guess; right now I'm really big into underground hip-hop and 70s punk. I'm always into electro, trip-hop, post-rock, breakcore, and intense, original heavy music (like Comets on Fire and Car Bomb).

I run the gamut from comedy to horror (sometimes there's no seperation), but I'd almost have to say that nothing's better than a really good documentary. Learning is fun!

Anime Movies: Vampire Hunter D, Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle, Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, Akira, Ninja Scroll, Metropolis.

I don't watch a whole lot of broadcast television. Usually if I'm looking at the TV screen it's to watch something I've put in the DVD player or to play Grand Theft Auto.

Books:

Anything by Chuck Klosterman, Neil Gaiman, Stephen King, or Hunter S. Thompson.
Sci-fi/Fantasy mostly - Ender's Game, Jack L. Chalker, George R. R. Martin, Isaac Asimov, Robert Aspirin, and Douglas Adams. Besides that, I enjoy Catcher in the Rye, some Charles Bukowski, some Edgar Allen Poe, and Ray Bradbury.
Comics: Sandman, Strangers in Paradise, Kling Klang Klatch, Johnny the Homocidal Maniac, Preacher, Watchmen, Y: The Last Man, The Crow, American Splendor, Cerebus, Books of Magic.

Heroes:

Martin Luther King Jr., Henry Rollins, Buddha, Harvey Pekar, and Jesus Christ. Much respect also goes to the Buddhist monk Thich Quang Duc, who set himself on fire as a protest against religious persecution in Saigon, 1963, resulting in one of the most powerful images I have ever seen:

"A man's ethical behavior should be based effectually on sympathy, education, and social ties; no religious basis is necessary. Man would indeed be in a poor way if he had to be restrained by fear of punishment and hope of reward after death." -Albert Einstein.
"Question with boldness even the existence of God; because, if there be one, he must more approve of the homage of reason than that of blindfolded fear." -Thomas Jefferson, 1787
