The Lunar Project was concieved 4 years ago, but for relaxation purposes only. After many months of insomnia, Dr. Charles J. Maxey surmised he could no longer undergo another sleepless night, so rather than dousing large amounts of sleeping pills, he decided to record a few "movements". He started recording what came to be experimental/ambient/jazz wih only a small jazz drumset, 6 channel mixing board, a synth. module, a sampler and a very old Rickenbacker lapsteel. Then he slept, but still no name for his project.
A few of his collegues listened to his pieces and urged Dr. Maxey to release this 'record' of his. He then did under the name: The Lunar Project. He christened this album 'Test Pilot 101'. He sent a few records out to college radio stations - one of which was Los Angeles' KXLU which charted the record at number 12 for the month of January of '03.
A few years later The Lunar Project recorded 'Teleportation'. The Lunar Project's latest live show is on the subject of 'teleportation', scientist David Darling speaks about this unusual theory. The entire performance lasts approximatly 30-40 minutes. There is no start or end per each movement. All tracks (with the exeption of trombone performed by Cassie Surowski and viola performed by Peter Surowski) were recorded, produced and performed by Dr. Charles J. Maxey..... "
