Someone who knows what I'm sayin'
tedleo/pharmacists, the decemberists, the mountain goats, radiohead, bjork, vienna teng, rem, beck, neko case, jeff buckley, schooner fare, rosenshantz, blackalicious, new pornographers, ben folds, talking heads, elvis costello, squeeze, of montreal, pogues, john cale, new wavey deliciousness, old wavey deliciousness, music I listened to when I was in college when it affected me more profoundly.
Me and you and everyone we know, Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind, Amadeus, Back to the Future, Wayne's World, ZOOLANDER (or any owen wilson/ben stiller vehicle especially if it does not include giant snakes), High Fidelity, Waking Life, This is Spinal Tap. I like Goodbye Lenin and would like to like more German films. Do you know any German films? I also like the word film, which is clearly distinct as my high school art teacher pointed out, from the word MOVIE.
Does someone want to give me a TV? I haven't been able to get my nightly Conan fix. I need my daily dose of East Coast ironic/sarcastic/sardonic/whateverness!
Slaughterhouse 5 while riding a train to Dresden, Sophie's World on a train to Spain, The World According to Garp, Maniac Magee, No Logo...I read a lot but forget many of the titles after I read them, only to be reminded when they are brought up in conversation, to which I will respond "oh yeah... I read that when I was supposed to be studying for the GRE, it cost me at least an hour a night. I liked its cover, I think sans seraph fonts are really the way to go generally, and matte printed paperpacks are my favorite," and analyze no further. This is only partially true. I certainly analyze much and take in books, though I mush them all up in my head. Oh yeah, and I am required to like Dave Eggers because of my age and current location. And the fact that he founded a youth program that is also a pirate store in which one can barter for lard.
Jane Golden, Linda Nochlin, Sam Taylor-Wood, Benny from the Sandlot.
