[MUSIC:]......"I want to write songs that are commercial but challenge the mainstream. I want to connect with people. I want my music to be everywhere."Matthew is an innovative singer, songwriter, musician, arranger and producer with a fascination for cinema, pop art, fashion and the avant-garde. His music has great commercial appeal, combining radio-friendly melodies and excellent musicianship.Lyrically and musically daring, Matthew is at the cutting edge, fusing pop, rock, electronica, punk and new wave in a unique hybrid, frequently taking the listener to alternative worlds of beauty and chaos, evoking controlled hysteria mixed with an underlying romanticism.[21st CENTURY BOY:]......The creation of a series of college rock/pop bands saw Matthew develop as a live performer throughout 2002/2003, which led to him working with the respected producer Bob Lamb (Duran Duran/UB40/Stephen Duffy). Managed at the time by bohemian maverick Alf Bicknell (formerly Road Manager for The Beatles and chauffeur for Sophia Loren), Matthew recorded a 3-track ep, gaining rave reviews from John Taylor (Duran Duran), Warren Cuccurullo (Frank Zappa/Missing Persons/Duran Duran) and legendary DJ Paul Gambaccini amongst others.Matthew subsequently went on to record new material which saw him develop a harder-edged sound, earning critical acclaim from the likes of producer Ian Little (Roxy Music/Sparks/Duran Duran), the musician Jonathan Perkins (Lou Reed/Mick Jagger/George Harrison/Dave Stewart) and the producer Richard Lush (The Beatles/John Lennon/Paul McCartney/The Beach Boys/John Barry/Pink Floyd/Burt Bacharach).Matthew has recently spent time in the studio working on a separate project with DJ/Producer Joey Negro (whose production/remix credits include Mirwais/Seal/Mariah Carey/Pet Shop Boys/Royskopp/Sugababes) on pop/dance tracks. Says Matthew,"My overriding ambition is to make music that is universal and timeless. I'm aware that is no easy feat but that is the masterplan! Basically, I want to make each song an event that people can remember."[INTO THE FUTURE:]......
Matthew is currently working on songs for his forthcoming debut album and is planning a series of live shows for the early part of 2008, which he promises will be a multi-media experience merging music, art and film. He is also working on a project writing songs for other artists, which he will be recording in London and Los Angeles."Matthew Swain writes great songs...." (NOTION Magazine)
