Playing the saxophone (and flute and stuff), writing fiction and poetry, reading and/or hosting at open mic nights, playing soccer, watching polar bears, the color green, wandering aimlessly, falling in love with boys, dissecting life to the most minute detail, observing others (great fodder for fiction!), laughing uncontrollably and seemingly without reason (especially with my sister).
I'd like to meet: Thinkers, creators, laughers, lovers. I like to learn new things and share what I know with others. People who share my interests are always attractive to me. But if you really want to light my fire, you must be a boy who has a way with words and a musical instrument. I'm a sucker for musicians and writers. And boys in general. :P But if you catch me while I am in a relationship, then I only have eyes for that one boy.As far as actual people whom I'd like to meet: Johnny Depp, Harry Connick, Jr., Lenny Kravitz, Tori Amos, Trent Reznor, Thom Yorke, and Kathryn Harrison.

I try to avoid it, really. But if it's on, I might watch the news, and I have some guilty pleasures (like Lost), but I'm not hooked.
Catcher in the Rye (JD Salinger), the House on Mango Street (Sandra Cisneros), the Handmaid's Tale (Margaret Atwood), A Separate Peace (John Knowles), Where the Sidewalk Ends & A Light in the Attic (and/or anything by Shel Silverstein), Beloved (Toni Morrison), Diary (Chuck Palahniuk), short stories by Dan Chaon, lots of stuff by Edgar Allan Poe, anything by Kathryn Harrison, or T. Greenwood, or Aimee Bender, John Irving's earlier works, Henderson the Rain King or Herzog (Saul Bellow), Where the Wild Things Are (Maurice Sendak), the books about Lars the polar bear (by Hans de Beer), and I have been reading a lot of Alice Hoffman (to whom many people compare the style of my short stories). Hopefully someday my own novels will be on the shelves to be others' favorites... I have attended the Maui Writers' Conference three times, the San Diego Writers' Conference once, and I am continuing the search for the perfect literary agent (turned down two offers so far). Keep your fingers crossed for me!
Kathryn Harrison and Aimee Bender, John Coltrane and Paul Desmond, Tori Amos and Jeff Buckley, Pele, my sister...
