Jermaine Goodman’s Biography
Jermaine Goodman, currently the age of 25, began his musical career at the age of 4 years old. His aunt and father began teaching him to sing and play drums in his church choir. By the time he was 12 years old, Jermaine began playing the trumpet in various school concerts and bands. At the age of 16 however, Jermaine was taught to play the piano by his father and his grandmother. The piano was his favorite instrument and he began to play for several churches in his community while he was still in high school. Jermaine’s aunt also taught him to direct the choirs that he played for and that made him even more versatile and talented as a musician. Jermaine's musical influences are great gospel and R/B singer/musician/songwriters, such as Fred Hammond, Kirk Franklin, John Legend and Stevie Wonder. At the age of 17, Jermaine wrote his first song and began to pursue his career as a singer/musician/songwriter. Jermaine graduated from Gates County High School in 2002 and he then went into the United States Army Reserve.
Jermaine attended Elizabeth City State University (Class of 2006), where he studied Sociology with an emphasis on Political Science. While at ECSU, Jermaine sang in the ECSU gospel choir and was a pianist from 2003-2005. Also while at ECSU, Jermaine became a member of Kappa Alpha Psi, played football and graduated as a 2nd Lieutenant from their Army ROTC Program. Jermaine won numerous talent shows and sang at various musical events. Oddly enough, his first job after graduating from ECSU was not in the music business. Jermaine began serving his military obligation as a 2nd Lieutenant in the 2nd Stryker Calvary Regiment in Vilseck, Germany. It wasn’t long before Jermaine’s musical gift was recognized by the public. He won runner up in the Military Idol Competition held in Fort Leonard Wood, MO (2006) and later went on to win the Military Idol Competition held in Vilseck, Germany (2007). Also while in Germany, Jermaine along with his colleagues Kevin “Khule†Harris and Rilwan Ottun, started a talent showcase called “Thirsty Thursday†for upcoming talent in the Vilseck/Graffenwhoer area. Jermaine was often the headliner for this showcase. There is a word of mouth buzz about Jermaine’s songs “I’m Gonna Getchaâ€, “Super Wonder Womanâ€, “Ta Da Da†and “Things Happen For A Reason†to name a few. Jermaine’s fans are greatly anticipating the debut of his new album "Letters From Iraq". Jermaine is currently awaiting his mass media push to come and so that he can spread his love for other through song. Jermaine is the future of R&B/Soul and the world will soon be able to testify to that truth!
