Sharing the Light of Christ thru Jazz

About Me

In March of 06, my mother died of cancer. While she was in the hospital, I would visit and sing to her some of her favorite hymns. These hymns have stood the test of time. And when approached to do a music cd, I thought it would be a good idea to put those hymns on the recording. But I wanted to bridge the gap between jazz, my first love and gospel. On the project "In the Garden, songs to my mother" I have selected some of my mothers favorites and spiced them up with a bit of jazz. I have also included 3 original pieces. Take my yoke, Amazing and Hold On. I think we have put together a beautiful piece of work. One that will glorify the Lord and honor my mom. The musicians that helped me on this project were local cats, but talented. My beginings are from the church but my love for jazz is personified in this new project. Mom always encouraged me to "Do my own thing" when it came to my music, so that is what I have done. I have taken familiar melodies and made them my own. Doin’ it my way. This was also my first time producing a project and I hope that I get that opportunity again. ****************************************************** My style is gospel with a smooth jazzy flair.I’m not a diamond in the rough. I’ve been singing for years. I’ve performed with such groups as Sister Sledge, BB King, Tower of Power, Cameo, and was one of the 8 winners in the Bob Hope Search for the top in College Talent. I sang and traveled with the group called New Mexico and have performed for the troops overseas. I believe my style is soothing yet energetic. ************************************************************ **** My purpose for this cd is to raise money for cancer research. It’s my way of "fighting back". For each cd that is sold, one dollar will go to research. You and I can make a difference in someone elses life so..... check out the cd. Be a blessing and be blessed. Thank you. Peace. ************************************************************ **Other pieces of work include "Living Water 1993" a collection of original songs that are designed to "Minister" to those who want to know more about Jesus Christ.
