I'm a Wellingtonian and a Drum and Bass enthusiast. I've lived in the nation's Capital for close to 3 decades and every day I'm grateful for living in this beautiful city. My introduction to Drum and Bass was during 2000-2001 during what I consider to be a very significant period in the local scene. My fondest memories from this era include Konflict, Ed Rush & Optical, Bad Company, Grooverider and numerous local events including The Bass Frontiers (www.myspace.com/bassfrontiers). Initially my involvement in Wellington Drum and Bass was specifically at events ripping it up on the dancefloor. I would spend literally 6-8 hours at Studionine, representing hard, leaving the dancefloor only for the occaisional Becks, a sneaky cone and nature calls. Certain activities that did not require us to leave the floor and were conducted in the shadows of speakers. Gradually I became aware of a larger culture and became aquainted with local DJs and other headz whose experience lead me to begin actively purchasing and mixing vinyl. By this stage my stylistic preference was irrefutable and to date I still represent deep, hard, tech Drum and Bass. In 2005, myself, Snax (www.myspace.com/snax0r) and our Dutch associate Sjef formed Noise Enthusiast in response to an obvious demand in Wellington for heavier Drum and Bass. We hosted Outrage (Metalheadz UK) followed closely by Tech Itch (Tech Itch Recordings) and Limewax (Freak Recordings) and gave regular support to recent local success Nanotek (Freak Recordings, www.myspace.com/nanotek666). To date, we've contributed in no small part to the proliferation of heavy Drum and Bass in the Capital. Personally, I've had some priceless, memorable experiences during the course of DJing and promotion but none come even remotely close to the dancefloor experience. As far as I'm concerned, that's the frontline. Big up the Wellington Drum and Bass massive and props to all the headz I've met over the years, you're too numerous to list. You know who you are.
