It can make good times better, sad times make sense, & fun times more memorable. Music can take you back to a place in your life that you long to be again...or provide the current soundtrack to memories you will fondly recall down the road. I get a love for music honestly & I vibe to all sorts of music ranging from old school 60's-70's rock, new-age alternative, gotta love some 80's jams (& be forewarned I will bust out my white girl version of the "Carlton" dance at any given moment if the music tells me to!!) As far as what CD's I'll buy & keep in my car....Erykah Badu, Angie Stone, Jill Scott, Eric Benet, Alicia Keys, Joss Stone, Javier, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Sublime, Mary J. Blige, John West, Pepper, John Legend, Incubus, Jon B., Outkast, Goodie Mob, Common(supa-dupa-fly!,)Sade, Dead Prez, Janis Joplin, Audioslave, Musiq Soulchild, Talib Kwele, Sade, Bob Marley, Black Eyed Peas, Jack Johnson, Stevie Wonder, Al Green, Jason Mraz, Floetry, Heather Headley, love old school standards (i.e. Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Louis Armstrong, Louie Prima, Rat Pack, etc...) Just don't like the general message in the music I listen to to be "die bitch, but let me & my friends f*%^ you first-smoke a blunt, drink some liquor--then go 'head & die bitch"--let's keep it positive, huh?
Dumb & Dumber, Superstar, Ace Ventura, Napolean Dynomite & other obviously stupid--yet hilarious--movies. As cliche as it is,I still love Scarface--in that same family, can't help but love Casino, Heat, Usual Suspects, etc... Pulp Fiction is one of the greatest movies made--Love random old school movies like Sybil, One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest, To Kill a Mockingbird, etc..
The Food Network is pretty much always on in this house...love to find out how to make better food!! Campus Ladies (a hidden treasure!!,) The Office (why does nobody watch this show??...it is so funny!!) Family Guy (hi-friggin-larious), In Living Color, almost anything on Discovery Channel (check out "Man vs. Wild"...it's great,) HGTV, TLC, A&E.--prefer music or books to tv though.
