I was born in Brooklyn, New York on June 26, 1897 with the birth name of Virginia Flugrath. I was the middle sister of three actresses (the other two were Edna Flugrath and Shirley Mason). I made my film debut in 1914 in the film MOLLY THE DRUMMER BOY at the age of 17. The following year I received top billing as Gladiola Bain in GLADIOLA. I was in top demand as evidenced by another title role in THE INNOCENCE OF RUTH. I continued to turn in great performances particularly as Katie O'Doone in BRED IN OLD KENTUCKY. My final silver screen role was in 1929's ONE SPLENDID HOUR. The last the general public saw me was in a documentary about Buster Keaton called A HARD ACT TO FOLLOW in 1987 for television. I was to die that year on July 3. I was 90 years old.
