I shampoo'd a hampster once because it had poop stuck to it's bottom. The hampster belonged to my daughter but she was going to sell it to some kid at school. I figured that the hampster should be clean before it moved. My intentions were good, I guess, but the hampster died. There was no autopsy or anything, but I concluded that the shampoo'ing was directly or indirectly related to the cause of death.Some years later, preparing for a performance at the Salvador Dali Museum in St. Petersburg, I composed the poem "Hampsters Don't Shampoo and Other Evolutionary Issues." Inspiration sometimes comes from strange places.
