I thought the world would explode 25 years ago when Reagan called The Soviets "The Evil Empire", so everything since then could be seen as a bonus. I'm an old punker (some of my old punk friends may know me as The Goose!)who was shocked but not really displeased to hear the Buzzcocks in a TV commercial for the AARP. I've done a bunch of midnight movie stuff with the trash film orgy, if you go to trashfilmorgy.com, you can see pictures of some of the stage shows. And a lot of reviews, articles, and interviews that I've written. I also have several articles on retrocrush.com, and some movie reviews on killerreviews.com. But now I'm trying to get paid. I'm trying to write a book (or two) right now, so I won't be spending much time on here. I got an agent now (for reals), and she probably wouldn't want me to be wasting all my time on here for free. No commission on Myspace. The video below is rough footage from Whispers and Shadows, a horror film I have a part in. Dig!..

My Interests

Reading, Writing, odd films. Send me your indie horror/camp/genre films, they'll most likely get reviewed sooner or later online.

I'd like to meet:

People who like weird movies. People who are not afraid of being smart. People from my old punk days in San Francisco.Below is a recent short by Jace Witman that he calls Zombie Walk. Don't blink or you'll miss me!

Music:

Flipper, Can, Kraftwerk, Toiling Midgets, Wire, James Brown, NY Dolls, MC5, Birthday Party, Kinks, Church Police, Bob Wills, Velvet Underground, Minutemen, Joy Division, Trashmen, Sun Ra, Mingus, Joe Meek, Acid King, Buzzcocks, Black Sabbath, Wanda Jackson, The Pop Group, Prince, Troublemakers, Gang of Four, Gene Vincent, Avengers, Sonny Sharrock, Kool Keith, Bob Log, Meters, Ike & Tina, Leonard Cohen, Scientist, Cornelius, Stereolab, Sleep, High On Fire, PiL, Ennio Morricone, Arthur Lyman, Mad Professor, Louis Jordan, Wynonie Harris, old skool rap, Q65, Lee "Scratch " Perry, Riverboat Gamblers, Greenhornes, Billy Childish, Bob Marley, Eddie Cochran, Billie Holiday, Dirtbombs, Gories, Cramps, Cynics, DMZ, 13th Floor Elevators, and even some Nick Drake if I'm really depressed.

Movies:

I like movies. Lots of 'em. Good, bad, bad/good, good/bad. Anything with Toshiro Mifune, William Powell or Klaus Kinski. Evil Dead. Vertigo. Brazil. M. Videodrome. The Heroic Trio. The Girl Can't Help It. 21 Grams. John Woo, Orson Welles, Takashi Miike, Anthony Mann, Edward G. Ulmer. Frankenhooker. Munchausen. Versus. Ricky-O. Almost any film with zombies. Noir, Italian Road Warrior rip-offs,sci fi musicals, 70s horror, 60s pop art. I love that point in the late 60s/early 70s when the rules were being ignored, but noone was quite sure what they could get away with, so they kept pushing the envelope in clever ways. Pre-code stuff from the early 30s is a hoot, too. Educational/propaganda/promotional films are fascinating glimpses into what philosophy the filmmakers hoped to sell us...

Television:

The Wire, Deadwood, My Name Is Earl, House, and of course wrestling, but mostly movies. My DVR is always at around 85% full because a 2 hour film takes up 2% of my allotted recording space. Can't they do something about that?

Books:

are good. I used to read a lot of them, now I mostly read the web. Current bathroom book: Beyond Uhura by Nichelle Nichols! No shizzle! I still like books by Jim Thompson. Fast Food Nation was good. Enjoyed Assassination Vacation by Sarah Vowell.

Heroes:

Just for one day.
