“Master of Suspenseâ€
It wasn’t until later in life that Evan Evans learned that a decades-old fatal car accident which took his Grandparents’ lives, was not the truth …. that their actual death was grizzly, at the hands of the dark and twisted serial killer, Richard Ramirez (self-proclaimed minion of Satan), aka “The Night Stalkerâ€. Such shocking horrors have increasingly taunted him since his own father’s untimely passing in 1980 (Evans was 5), far too soon for the 51 year-old, now legendary, jazz pianist Bill Evans.
Evans has taken tragedy by its horns, armed with musical genes, and uplifted his spirit through creation, giving back enjoyment to the world through his expression in the art of Film Scoring. It’s not enough to him, for his work to be adequate and satisfactory. He is hellbent on heightening the power and feelings that the audience can experience, pushing the art of Cinema itself to new territory with each new project.
Even before learning of his Grandparents’ true death, he earned his way as a sought-after dramatic composer. But it wasn’t until then, that he was able to cement his passion for the dark side of drama to his past, able to weave such expressions into his heritage. His past became something to evolve from, instead of devolve from. This reinforcement from the deepest parts of his foundation, has matured his musical expression … creating intense power with reserve … sophistication with purity. Don Ray (Twilight Zone, UCLA Professor), described Evans’ music as “showing a rare understanding of the epic nature of life.â€
Evans is the sole protégé of famed film composer, Lalo Schifrin (“Mission: Impossibleâ€, “Rush Hourâ€), as well as prized apprentice of Hollywood orchestrator Scott Smalley (“Batmanâ€, “The Insiderâ€, “Robocopâ€, “Conan The Barbarianâ€).
In between projects, he enjoys spending time with his family, managing E3 Records (his record label), CuePop (his library music company), and working on his book “The Art Of Film Scoringâ€, the definitive guide to the Craft.
