Eve Ransom. At first glance you could think it's the name of a new female pop artist, or a new actress. But Eve Ransom is the name of a new force on the Maltese rock scene, a band like no other on these shores, who after only a short while together have already written a set of around 14 original numbers.Eve Ransom are the twins Kik and Daryl 'The animal' on bass and drums respectively, ex- Scream Daisy guitarist and songwriter Brendan Jackson on lead vocals and rythm guitars and finally Dru powering up the lead/rythm guitars and backing vocals. After only a few months of rehearsals, the band were already on the road by September 06, playing at some of the main venues on the island and to great critical acclaim.Influenced by the cutting-edge American rock scene which has taken Uncle Sam by storm, Eve Ransom have welded together influences such as Queens of the Stone Age and Muse to other heavier p
powerhouses such as Creed, Nickelback, Linkin Park, and namely Breaking Benjamin. This results in a powerful rythmic background with sharp bends, all softened down with relatable, commercial vocals. In August 07, Eve Ransom entered the studio for the first time to record the title track 'Believe' for local TV sports programme 'Kick Off' which is aired on Melita Sports every Sunday evening.Only two weeks later, Eve Ransom entered the studio again to record their first single titled 'Souvenir', which was released on all local radio stations on the 5th September 07 - apart from generating unexpected positive response both from listeners as well as from the radio station DJ's, Souvenir led the band to two nominations for Best Newcomer and Best Song in the 2007 edition of the Bay Music Awards after only 2 months of radio airplay. Lead singer Brendan was also asked to form part of the Singing for Bay Kids team in the song 'Fall Into Place'. In November, the music video (recorded & produced by Francesco Debono) for 'Souvenir' was also released. In February 2008, Eve Ransom released their second single 'Just the Way I am', which currently is on all top local radio stations - in the meantime songwriting and gigging are a continuous process in the band's weekly routine.Stay tuned for more to come...
