Au Studio des trois lits: One of Quebec's very finest. Les Chauffeurs à pieds would have to have gone the full distance to match their previous offering "Déjeuner canadien" but they have managed it with this sparkling offering. Once again, it is the soaring fiddle of Antoine Gauthier and the multi-instrumental talents of Benoît Fortier that really catch the ear. One of their finest qualities is the way they are able to express the sort of people they are through their music; it is full of zest, humour, vitality and commitment and those are just the sort of people they seem to be when you meet them. The tracks that create the most interest this time are their Quebecois take on tunes that have crossed the Atlantic such as "Petronella". Were you expecting heavy criticism from one of their greatest fans? Well, there is one thing: no songs this time from a band that has a number of fine singers. Apart from that, it's excitement all the way.

In their fifth CD this Quebequois quartet serve up lively instrumental versions of traditional tunes. Louis-Simon Lemieux, violin, and harmonica; Olivier Soucy, guitar; Benoit Fortier, recorders; and Antoine Gauthier, mandolin, create a great mix. Standouts include "Buck-reel de Cascapedia," "Cinq, quatre, trois!," and "Reel du pendu."
