Spin the Hobby Wheel - What will I do next?

About Me

I'm a very creative person, who also happens to have a very technical side to her. I have about a billion hobbies and I never know which one I am going to pick up next. My two main hobbies are Singing in an Irish Band and Sewing.
I grew up on Long Island, but I live in Ohio now, which I love. Ohio is fantastic, much slower pace and great, friendly people, but boy do I miss the food. Good New York Style Pizza, Italian Bakery cookies, Hard Rolls, and really good Chineese food - All of these things are absent in my life now. It is a very sad affair. But I certainly don't miss the Traffic :-)
Fin Tan has been together for about 6 years now and we have a great time. We have three albums out, plus our new demo - which just rocks! It has been such a ride. I never thought I's actually be a lead singer in a band, but here I am. It's a blast.
Sewing is the other Hobby and I've been doing that for about 12 Years. I actually have a small business now where I do costumes and various other sewing work. The business has developed enough that I needed a name and business cards this year, so Kostumes by Karen was born.

My Interests

Music, Sewing, Theater, Crafts, Quilting, Frogs (I collect them). Asian arts - I just find them fascinating - and I do Temari (a type of Japanese thread ball embroidery) and Kumihimo (a japanese briading). I belong to the SCA - which is a Medieval recreation society. So I dress up in funny clothes on some weekends to hang out with my friends.

I'd like to meet:

Jim Henson, Kermit the Frog

Costumes for the Magic Flute

Costumes for Iolanthe - My Second Opera Costume Build

Here are some Pictures of me with my band Fin Tan

Also of note - our website is: www.fintanband.com

Here are some of the costumes (and Quilts) I've done in the last few years

Music:

A lot of different kinds...Irish (obviously), Country, Rock, 80's, Oldies, Classical. I think that about covers it. I love Billy Joel (grew up on Long Island - duh) and I love Barenaked Ladies - especially live - they give a killer concert. Celtic Woman, Gaelic Storm, The Elders, Homeland & The Irish Rovers are amongst my favorite in the Irish Genre

Movies:

Anything Muppets, The Princess Bride, Dangerous Beauty, The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, The Pirates of the Carribean, X-men (1 & 2 - not 3), The Matrix, A lot of Action flicks - I'm an action flick Junkie - as long as it has a plot as well.

Television:

The Muppet Show, Heroes, Chuck, Eureka, Good Eats, CSI (Vegas and NY - I don't care for Miami), Buffy the Vampire Slayer (I was an Addict when it was on), Bones, Law & Order, Monk, Psych, I watch a lot of TV while I sew - the TV is usually going in the background while the machine is running.

And Speaking of Television...

Why Doesn't It Surprise me that I turn out to be Kermit in this Personality Test?
You Are Kermit
Hi, ho! Lovable and friendly, you get along well with everyone you know.
You're a big thinker, and sometimes you over think life's problems.
Don't worry - everyone know's it's not easy being green.
Just remember, time's fun when you're having flies! The Muppet Personality Test

Books:

Fantasy, Historical Romance, Chick-Lit, Mysteries, I love JD Robb, Lori Foster, Diane Mott Davidson, and Mercedes Lackey. And I LOVED all the Harry Potter Books! But I honestly listen to almost all my books, rather than read them. Books on tape are the best way to read. I love being able to fold laundry, or drive on a business trip while listening to a book.

And in Light of love of fantasy - Here's another test...
You Are a Dragon
You are very charismatic and incredibly popular.
People are drawn to your energy, but you are a very difficult person to get to know.
You are very active - you are usually hard at work or play.
You enjoy drama, and you enjoy anything unusual or eccentric. What Mythological Creature Are You?

Heroes:

Jim Henson! He was a brilliant and creative genius and he died way to early. My parents - they have held a marriage together for 35 years and successfully run a business together for 30 years without killing each other despite having moments they both wanted to. Plus - they raised me, and that was no small challenge and they've always been there for me no matter what.
