Just fucking play!!!

About Me

Ryan D. Hackney grew up in the deep, dark hills of Eastern Kentucky, and has been playing guitar since he was able to hold one. Even through years of broken bones, cut tendons, and countless cuts and bruises, all to his hands!, he has never stopped. Not even when he played his guitar with bloody fingers and a cast to his elbow, he never quit. (He had his hand set to where he could still play fingerstyle.) To meet him without his guitar you would never believe he knew how to even hold one, but when he starts to play...watch out! From blues to rock, country to metal, he can play it, and with the best out there. Ryan has the ability to draw upon any influence and make it his own. He has a style and tone that are all his own through years of pratice and honing, and each is very reconizeable. From the first note to the last you know who is playing. I just wish the songs you hear really gave him justice, but to really appreciate his talents, is to see him play in person. Take a listen and you will agree, Ryan D. Hackney is a talent. 'Anonymous'

Band Members: I play everything heard. Guitar, bass, lead...everything. If there are songs up with drums, I programmed them even. I have done it all here. I write the music, and sometimes I even carry an off key tune. Drop me a comment on any of the songs to tell me how you liked it, or why you hated it. If you don't like it, please tell me why. Anything to improve my playing.

Influences: Willie Nelson, Neil Young, Hank Williams Jr., Waylon Jennings, Don Williams, John Prine, Chet Atkins, Jerry Reed, Doyle Dykes, Charlie Daniels, Ry Cooder, Bonie Raitt, Lee Roy Parnell, Warren Haynes, and a whole slew of bluegrass players like Carter Stanley, Ricky Skaggs, Del McCoury Band, and cross overs like Steve Earle have influenced me over the years. But let me not forget the true influence of my playing...the deep, dark hills if Eastern Kentucky. Without those hills and their stories, I would never play any of the music I have ever made, and especially these tunes here on this page. For fine acoustic instruments check out my friend's website at www.rushingguitars.com Ask for Johnny Rushing if you stop by his shop in Piedmont Tennessee, and please play one of his fine handmade instruments. You won't be disappointed I promise. If you are ever in Talbott Tennessee please go by Lloyd's Music Mart and see my good friend Phil Lloyd. He has a wonderful selection of instruments, and has the best deals and service I have come across in any guitar shop, or place of business period. If you can't make it to his shop, you can find him at www.lloydsmusic.com. Take my advice and check out both shops for some of the friendliest, down-home people you could ever want to meet.
