MICHAEL CRUZ is one of the new breed of young performers who is slowly but surely paving his way to music stardom. A product of ABS-CBN Channel 2’s singing search Star in a Million Season 2, Michael has been a constant favorite and has already created a solid fan base for himself.
This early, Michael is carving a niche for himself in the local music industry. He is known for his rough but soothing voice which delivers perfect renditions of popular rock ballads from different eras, ranging from the 80’s New Wave artists such as Tears for Fears to this generation’s punk rock bands such as Maroon Five. He likes to experiment with his music, and would like to share his love for music not only by singing and performing, but also by writing his own songs and sharing them to the audience.
Charming, witty and open-minded, Michael has also honed his skills in hosting for almost seven years, as he was a staple in lounge and comedy bars such as The Library, Klownz, Zirkoh and Sitcom. Even then, audiences would love his performances, which made him decide to take his dream of sharing music to a higher level.
Success wasn’t very far from Michael’s reach, because in less than a year after his Finals appearance in Star in a Million Season 2, he had already recorded and released an album under Star Records entitled Solo 2. The album is a compilation album of three new artists namely, Johann Escañan, R2D and Michael Cruz. He has four cuts in the album, two remakes (Beep Beep by The Juan de la Cruz Band and Crazy for You by Madonna) and two originals (Iglap and Dahil Ikaw).
Michael is managed by host/comedian/entrepreneur Mr. Arnel Ignacio. He is currently busy planning a nationwide bar tour with his band to promote his debut album.
