I am here for Friends

About Me

My name is Cheryl, can't think of much to say at the moment - single, no kids, share my home with an Australian Shepherd and four cats. Doing some renovations on the house right now. Definitely keep busy, never enough time for all that I want to do. Generally a pretty calm and low-key kind of person, but every once in a while my wild-child comes out (just spank me if I get out of control). Like to party and entertain, tended bar in Orlando for years, have lots of acquaintances and buddies, but just a few people that I consider true friends - the ones that you can trust and count on.

My Interests

Animals, Antiques, Art, Reading, Swimming, Concerts, Socializing w/friends and family.

I'd like to meet:

Hey, I like most people, so long as they're honest, kind, have a sense of humor and can carry on a conversation.
BTW, the WINK isn't some sort of invitation, has to do with my last name and it's one of several nicknames I've had for years.

Odin: The Swimming Tiger

Music:

Most rock, along with blues, jazz, alternative, even some country. Some of my favorites are Bad Company, Eric Clapton, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Led Zeppelin, Simply Red, Train, and Chris Isaak.

Movies:

Anything that makes me laugh or think or gasp (that narrows it down, huh?). Always enjoy Kevin Smith movies (esp. Dogma), X-Men and Spiderman movies are great, can watch Blues Brothers any time, loved Braveheart and Gladiator, and most anything with vampires works to scare me. Strange weakness for old '30s-'40s screwball comedies, too - I'm pretty easily amused.

Television:

CSI (only the original), all three Law & Orders, Scrubs, documentary and nature shows, home improvement stuff and the twisted, totally wrong Nip/Tuck.

Books:

Anything that holds my interest, read a lot of reference books, enjoy biographies, and some of my favorite novelists are Carl Hiaasen, John Irving, Tom Robbins, Anne Rice, and Barbara Kingsolver.

Heroes:

My Mom.

Regaining Trust

Have had some issues with trust for the last several years, a cautious person by nature, became somewhat closed off and cynical after dealing with dishonesty and betrayal.  Ha...

So tired of the bull****

Made the mistake of allowing myself to expect some sort of decency from a person who has already shown himself to be arrogantly dishonest and incredibly selfish.  Kicking myself for bei...

Thank God for critters!

Last couple of weeks have been a little rough - minor mishaps, confusion in relationships, and an annoying arthritis flare-up.  Nothing awful, just the sort of things that can pile up and get you...

Transcendental Bits of Wisdom

Became interested in 19th century American Transcendental philosophy in high school.  Can't say that I really did much study beyond reading Emerson's Collected Essays, Thoreau's Walden and Whitma...

Therapeutic Scissor-Play

Have always found artwork or some type of creative endeavor necessary to keep my mind and soul healthy.  A few years ago, was struggling with a sense of loss from the failure of an...
